I thank my lucky stars that my interest in video games are relegated to the rare FPS that I play on and off for a week or two, and the games of Madden with friends over some beer.

The last thing I need in my life is another distraction!

Welps. Caved in and pre-ordered SC2. Unless I succumb to multiplayer addiction, I'm going to play through single player and immediately sell my account right around the time school starts.

Looks like our class is going to be about 443 people; at least, that's how many people are signed up in total for the Civil Procedure sections. Still no word on individual class schedules, but you can ge an idea of what the times are for classes if you access the fall schedule page. No surprise, the greatest variation is in the time for Legal Writing sections, where some sections are in seesion until 6:50pm.

Are you saying we can sign up ourselves? I thought these classes are assigned to us.

Interesting. That's slightly higher than what they stated was the goal class size.

Here's hoping for some good time assignments.

No we cannot sign ourselves up; this info is from their master schedule for all classes. Might be a leap of faith but I figured if they've given numbers (not student names) for the different 1st year courses, it's a good indication of how many are in the class when you add up the numbers. We wont receive our e-mail schedules until "early August" and a "hard" schedule at orientation. Makes it tough to look for any deals on books since we won't know what we'll be using. Anyone know what books are universally used there and not section dependent?

Just added up Contracts, and that goes to 429, so I'm not sure if we can deduce total class size from the section limits.

They still need a place to sit...sounds the like the classrooms will be stuffed, which I guess we all knew beforehand.

Where do I find the information or a form to sign up for direct-deposit for loan disbursement? I remember seeing something about this while browsing around UCH's site, but I can't seem to find the information now.

EDIT:

Duh - easily found. My bad!

Lets hope not.

I was told class was coming in at 390, that sections would be no more than 80 a pop. The schedules on webadvisor don't seem to match up to anything close to that.

I'll be mightily pissed if I was lied to. Of course, that's life, and I guess I should get used to it. But still.

Wasn't Hastings aiming to shrink down class size?

What is everyone going to do about books?

We aren't assigned sections yet, aid money won't come in until around the time classes start, and I definitely want my books at least a few days before classes start to flip through (not to mention I want to be certain I have the right ones).

Is it worth the money to bite the bullet and just call the bookstore and tell them I want in on their price-gouging? Can I ask them to charge the amount to my student loan money once it comes in?

Classes are assigned early August, so I think we have plenty of time to order books.

Maximum class sizes in Web Advisor are not really indicative of anything. I just looked at the 1L classes and they all show capacities of over 100, but your sections will not actually be that large. My 1L section was 92 people and our class size was larger than yours will be.

And anyway, section size is not really that big of a deal. If your section was 90 people vs. 80, I guarantee you wouldn't notice a difference except during the first two weeks when everyone's showing up early, gunning for the first rows of seats on the seating chart.

P.S. If you want to get any idea of what each section's schedule will be, the last number in the class number is the section number. So LAW*105*11 (10511) CIVIL PROCEDURE is section 1.

LWR sections are 12 or so people and yes, the vast majority are 4:40pm - 6:50pm because the professors are adjuncts who have full-time jobs.

Anyone familiar with the visitor policy/having people over/having massive orgies at the Tower?

no pets allowed

otherwise it seems like any other apartment complex that doesn't mess around with noise complaints

I would assume that the massive orgies would fall under the noise complaint issue...that is, if it was any good.
