is this real? like word by word quote?

if so that was really really rude lol

That was the person's response, word for word. I was shocked.
Ugh. Sorry you had to deal with that. Even if they DID get hundreds of calls a week, that's no excuse for them to treat people who are going to dish out 40k a year to attend their school that way. Unprofessional.

That's just typical UC customer service. I had a few run-ins with Hastings staff that went similar to this. It's not pleasant, but ultimately you have to remember that you won't be dealing with these administrative people on a day to day basis while in law school. The profs at Hastings are extremely friendly, you would never experience something like this with a professor.

That's strange. I've talked to UCLA and Berkeley admissions multiple times and asked (what I realize now as) really stupid questions, and they were friendly each and every time. Maybe Styrofoamwar got unlucky, but that's bad publicity, esp. when what the admissions person said ends up getting reported to hundreds of people on TLS

there's a doc for that returning students fill out, which doesn't apply to 0-1L's
thanks for clearing that up! :)

I don't want to feel like some second class citizen because I got in for different reasons than a traditional applicant. Any thoughts from current Hastings students?
I don't even know who the LEOP students are. If you don't announce yourself then nobody will know. Even if people did know, most of them would not treat you differently...it's not like people are opposed to LEOP in the first place.
I don't know if this is entirely true. I have a few friends in LEOP and have attended several LEOP-sponsored events on campus. It's true that you don't have to make your LEOP-status made public but I've heard that many non-minority students feel that LEOP students get an "unfair advantage" because they have access to free exam prep and mentors, etc. Many students ARE opposed to LEOP. This is just what I've heard.

By the way, I got into LEOP, too, and am totally honored.
Regular students can get everything LEOP students can.
-old exams are on the library website
-study supplements are available at the library
-CALI lessons are free at the library
-Each section has a "section leader" who is like the mentor for that section. They hold exam prep sessions, etc. and you can arrange a private meeting with them to get advice.

So where is the unfairness? People who complain about LEOP are just mad about AA. I honestly don't know a single student in LEOP. I don't ask around, and as far as I can tell they don't announce themselves. And I have not heard a single complaint from my classmates.
Good to know; thanks for the clarification!

Accepted via snail mail on Monday. I received a thin, small envelope that gave me a scare, but I'm in! No scholarship info though. Above the 75th percentile for GPA and at or slightly above their median LSAT.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
