This is a really tough decision. If I was in that position and definitely wanted biglaw, I'd head to Fordham. OCI at St. John's was a bloodbath last year so I wouldn't count on getting a job that way.samiam123 wrote:quick opinion from you guys,

If you finish median at Fordham you will be ~150k in debt with shit job prospects. If you finish median at St. John's you will have little to no debt with shit job prospects. You've gotta ask yourself a question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk?

Yes, I just RSVP'ed. Do you know what else there is besides the mock property class at 6pm? I have already been in for a tour and met with some students, but I was very interested in sitting in on an actual class. However, I guess a mock class is the next best thing.

Has anyone heard anything from St. John's recently? Is it kinda safe to say that if you haven't been accepted at this point then you are most like ly waitlisted or rejected?

Just spoke with them today (complete since November!!), they said there is still no decision on my application yet "letters are going out everyday" and to expect something soon. I don't know how encouraging this is at this point in the cycle..Let me know if you hear anything!NYCG8TR wrote:Has anyone heard anything from St. John's recently? Re: St. John's 2013
Complete since January 13th for the PT program, and still under review. I am at their 75% range on LSAT and with a 4.0 GPA & better than average softs. If I get dinged, then either something is grossly wrong on my app, or they really are making a push to increase their USNWR ranking for the future. Keeping my fingers crossed. It is the only school I want to go to (I live a couple of minutes away).
Don't worry - they were still accepting people into very late April last year.

Same here, what is the last day you'd wait to hear from them until you give up?NYCG8TR wrote:Just spoke with them today (complete since November!!), they said there is still no decision on my application yet "letters are going out everyday" and to expect something soon. Congrats to everyone else that got in, good luck to those still waiting to hear back. After STJ refused to up my scholarship earlier this week, I stuck it to them by sending in my seat deposit yesterday. Its rising status, my partial scholarship and the flexibility of the evening program worked in conjunction to get me to commit. I'm definitely looking forward to August.
Question for the current 1L's: Could I bother you for a copy of a 1L syllabus? Preferably Contracts or Torts. I want to see what I'm up against.
Question for the 0L's: Any normal people looking for a roommate? I want to stay close to campus but not on campus (Fresh Meadows/Jamaica Hills). I have a car so I'm trying to stay away from neighborhoods that are not car-friendly, i.e. Forest Hills or Kew Gardens.

Accepted today to the PT program; found out via an invitation to an Admitted Students event, so I called up the admissions office and was notified that I was accepted just yesterday, and the letter is "in the mail" today. So there is hope yet! Hang in there!nms23 wrote:Submitted mine early December for the PT program, my LSAT score is at their 75% range and gpa in their 50%....I have pretty much lost all hope.shutterbug wrote:Complete since January 13th for the PT program, and still under review. For anyone going to the admitted students day today or has any information about such things,
Anything in particular you guys are planning on wearing? My workplace has a very casual vibe and I'm in jeans and a button down shirt - nothing fancy at all. I'm wondering if that's okay or perhaps I should duck out of work a little early and change into something a little more formal?

It's a pretty typical syllabus for 1L subjects. Do you want it to get a head start on some material? I guess you could go ahead and get some prep books, but I would just take the summer easy. I didn't do any prep last summer, and it's fine.

That's fine. Last year, some people dressed up, some were casual.

Re: St. John's 2013
Anyone who went to the ASD last night now sold on St Johns? I am now happy with the school, but I cant decide if I should retake LSATs, try to up a couple of points and get the full scholarship so I have absolutely no costs to worry about, as of now it would be about $20K total for me to go there. If I upped my score I would obviously apply to Fordham as well, but knowing they give out less money, I cant see any situation where I would go there. Is the 20K worth a year wait?

Just curious to know what happened on ASD that makes you want to go there now? And about waiting a year it depends what you want, I personally want to graduate asap and would not want to wait
