For evening students, orientation is Sunday August 15th, and classes start Monday August 16th.

Have people gotten their tuition bills, official schedules, and/or book lists yet? The website seems to say that we should have received this stuff early summer, but I've gotten nothing in the mail so far. I feel like I find out more on these forums than St. John's actually tells me.

Nope, I haven't gotten anything. I was hoping I would at least get something from them before tuition is due, but its due in four days so we probably won't. *sigh*

Edit: If you look at the members under a class on St. John's Central and look at the last visited date you can see which people in your section probably go to TLS.

I am not sure if the schedules we can see are "official" but I would think that they are most likely going to be what we end up with. PM me if you need help finding your schedule.

Once you can see your schedule, you can find your books by going here: --LinkRemoved--

Hope that helps.

St. John's communication is pretty weak. I posted in the c/o 2013 forum that you need to confirm your enrollment on UIS. after I did that it said an official schedule would be sent in the mail, who knew! Anyway, I think a few weeks ago I couldn't confirm enrollment because I hadn't paid. Then I saw that my loans for tuition were on there so I actually had a credit and could confirm. A little confusing but hopefully that helps us all out. I am really just anxious for orientation information.

As far as book list, you need to be able to see your "student detail schedule" (which you should be able to after you confirm your enrollment) to find out your exact section number for each class. Then go to the st johns queens bookstore and search.

FYI, we got a big packet in the mail sometime last summer. I don't remember exactly when it was, but it had all the info we needed. It explained about orientation and what we had to prepare and gave us instructions for signing up on TWEN and our Westlaw passwords. I'm pretty sure it had the booklist in there, as well as the schedule and the breakdown of who is in what section. Plus we got a ton of materials at orientation.

I know you guys are anxious, but you really will find out eveything you need over the next couple of weeks. Just try to enjoy your last few weeks before you start!

I called admissions yesterday to change my address. Good thing I did because supposedly the "packets" are going out today. Hopefully!

Also, has anyone been on hold with the financial aid office for a ridiculously long time and actually gotten through?

I always do financial aid stuff in person. It is much easier to go there if your are local. Also, there's a webcam somewhere on the website that shows the office and how long the line is.

Yup... I have called several times and never had the patience to wait past 30 minutes so I always hung up when it took that long. However, I did finally get through after over an hour when I absolutely needed to speak to someone. Someone will eventually pick up your call, but don't use your cell phone if you have limited minutes :)

No packet yet, but I did manage to get myself to school today to pick up my Storm Card.

Everything is really sinking in now... less than 3 weeks to go. Yikes.

I called the security office and asked them when I can pick up the Stormcard. They said as long as we are registered for classes and had an X number assigned, we can get one. I went there yesterday at 6PM, and got it within minutes of them taking the picture.

Got the so-called "packet" in the mail today. More like a small envelope with the TWEN registration & Westlaw account information, as well as instructions on what to do next, including how to get on TWEN and check out assignments, booklists, and calendars.

For those in Section A:

Can someone tell me the names of the following parts in the book that we have to read for the first day of class? I bought an older edition and want to make sure I am reading the right stuff.

Introduction to Legal Method and Process, 5th edition, by M. Berch, R. Berch, R. Spritzer, and J. Berch (West Group 2010).
Ch. 1, Sections A, B, C, & F; Ch. 6, Section B (pp. 475-83)

Feel free to PM if you'd like.

Thanks!

once you get your "packet" (envelope) you will be able to register for westlaw and access TWEN...it is there where you can find the booklist for your specific section as well as other things pertaining to orientation
