Glad you liked Emory. Just keep in mind that compared to other schools emory isn't well represented here on TLS, because most of us don't really care what the TLS community thinks. It's always better to ask someone who goes to the school then listen to others who have no idea what Emory is about other than citing employment stats and LSAT medians.
Look forward to seeing everyone here next fall.[/quote]

The fact that Emory students don't care abt TLS is a good thing in my mind. But for better or worse, this forum is influential, imo. Don't worry, I know why I'm going to Emory and will trumpet its great qualities to anyone who cares to listen.

Does anyone know if the second tuition deposit form is binding (i.e. do I have to withdraw all other active applications?)

I loved Emory when I visited, but I have four other active applications (two in review; two waitlists) at great schools that I am hesitant to pull before necessary. I'm not counting on anything but I've heard a lot of stories about people getting off the waitlist at the last second and switching schools in August/September.

And does anyone know if there are any housing options that permit withdrawal? How do WL people do it? Campus Crossing despite their aggressive recruitment (no security deposit, no application fee) are adamant that a lease would be non-negotiable and I wouldn't be released if I withdrew from the school.

Have they ever given $ to people off the waitlist in recent history? I looked at last years thread and LSN and it doesn't seem so

According to the last email they sent, no more money is going out

Good luck to those waitlisted and still interested in attending ELS.

Like people have mentioned, ELS isn't a bad choice. Granted, CC was a disaster 65% of the time, but CC isn't "technically" an extension of Emory. I think my biggest complaint about the law school experience itself (personal fault aside) is how mischievous the LWRAP (legal writing) professors can be; or at least mine was. It's one thing to answer a question that doesn't have a clear answer; it is much more frustrating when the answer could be answered with a "yes" or "no" and a brief explanation, but the professor prefers to beat around the bush.

Aside from LWRAP, the 1L experience at ELS had been rewarding for me. It wasn't perfect, but it wasn't 2012.

Campus Crossings Briarcliff. It isn't a complete disaster, but for what it was worth, it was a lot more trouble than the lease made it seem.

I was just released from the waitlist. It was a long shot and I wasn't counting on an acceptance. Good luck to applicants who survived this round of cuts.

I received it. I guess I'll stay on the WL. It can't hurt to wait out a decision.

Yep. And staying on it. Do we think this sounded hopeful?

Actually, u should only stay on if u are seriously considering going there. It can "hurt" bc they contact ppl needlessly while others who really want to attend have to wait longer and do things like waste deposits on apartments. I'm not targeting the OP specifically with this post, but rather i want to make the point that u should wait out a decision only if accepting the offer (and im pretty sure no money will come along with it) would seriously be an option should u be admitted.
I had a long response typed out, but it's not worth the waste of words. Suffice it to say, I'm on the waitlist, and I'll stay on the waitlist. If I'm offered admission, I'll consider it. If not, I'll be happy where I'm at. I suggest you do the same.

Why are you putting down a deposit on an apartment if you don't know you will be living here next year? FYI, Atlanta is a large city, there is no shortage of places to rent near the law school no matter when you are looking.

this is true. my wife and i have just moved here, and you can't go more than 500 yards without seeing balloons in front of buildings. there are plenty of places to live. you might not get a place .1 miles from campus (we're 4 miles away due to our complexes extremely friendly pet policy) but there are good places to be had.

I don't think it sounded hopeful at all considering how late in the game they'd be taking people off the WL

Just a heads up for those on the WL: I got an email offering an incentive if I defer for a year. It looks like they may have overfilled already.

aparks: that's interesting. but that doesn't necessarily mean ppl on the WL are out of luck.

interesting if emory actually is overfilled though. indicates to me that many top people (who, in past years, would have withdrawn to go elsewhere) have stuck with emory to this point, for any number of reasons.
