Hopefully they'll continue to consider me at the top of their list after the deposit deadline.
Maybe I am delusional, but I read it as optimistic. "We wanted to admit you this round, but aren't able to yet. Hang in there until May 3 and we'll try again."
I hope you're right. I would imagine they're going to have some spots become available after the deposit deadline (They have to, right? Huge class, and there's no way everyone and their mom is hanging their hat at Georgetown this year), and it would be nice if we were one of the first in in that scenario.

So, what'll it be? I'm partial to the Irish whiskeys, but I'm open-minded.

I am SPWL FT...got this email 3 days ago

Dear XXXX,

Good morning from Georgetown. I'm writing to you today to give you an update. The Committee has begun the process of looking at our waiting list candidates, with special attention to the small group of which you are a part. As I sit here today, there are very few openings and we most likely will not be able to offer you a seat as of now.

While it is very possible spots may open before then, the next important date for us (and you) is May 3 when our first deposits are due. With extension requests, I feel sure I will know much more on May 10, at the latest. Even if you have already been in touch with us, it would be helpful if you would respond at lawcenterwaitlist@law.georgetown.edu as soon as possible to let us know of the extent of your interest in attending Georgetown and any updates in your law school plans, including any upcoming deadlines.

Please note that if spaces do become available, there will be a short time frame for you to make your enrollment decision. Alternatively, if you would like us to remove your application from consideration, I would appreciate your letting us know that as well.

Thank you again for your continued interest in Georgetown and for your patience with our process. As I said, we may be back with good news in the next days or weeks, but we will be back in touch with you by the afternoon of Monday, May 10 for sure with an update.

Best,

Andrew Cornblatt

Dean of Admissions
Georgetown University Law Center

Did not get any email today though..so does this mean im now a "2nd tier" spwl? Why put a person on the spwl if they dont want to give you a spot!!!--Very Frustrating

Here's my paraphrase of the email(s):
(1) We made all the offers we can, pre-May 3rd. You, while very possibly meant to be included this week, cannot be right now, b/c our spaces filled up fast. We won't be making any offers before May 3rd, unless you can bring yourself to put a hit out on a dozen recent admits.

However, (2) while our ability to make offers RIGHT NOW has changed, there is still a distinction to be made between you and those who did not get such an email today. This is our way of saying that to the extent that any openings occur post-May 3rd/10th, you and your brethren from today's emails will be most likely first in line.
And the other guys? Well, one can only hope that they remain sane and non-suicidal between now and the first week of May. :?

Any thoughts on sending more than one LOCI? I sent one a couple of weeks after I initially got on the SPWL. Since then I have continued to tell them I am interested and that it is my top choice, etc. I visited last week, met with admissions, etc., etc. Can writing aNOTHER LOCI help? hurt? It is a different topic...just giving the committee yet another reason why they should take me. Thoughts?

Also, if people sent additional LORs, did you just have them sent directly? Or thorough (the very slow) LSAC?

Thanks! I am still hopeful! Fingers crossed!

I'm a PT only applicant and received two different emails: a short email a week ago saying they were going to review files within the next week or two and wanted to gauge my interest, and then another on Friday from one of the admissions director contacts saying that spots filled up faster than they thought but that I'd be updated on May 10th at the latest.

Here's my question: Does anyone know (from trolling last year's posts, etc) what the difference between the "here's an email address to use throughout the summer" and "although we weren't able to offer you a spot right now, we'll update you after the seat deposit deadline" is?

Did anyone on the PT wait list even receive the "here's an email address to use" email?

I'm finding it particularly difficult to just sit back and wait, as I sense is true for most others on this thread. I would rather spend my time parsing words in various emails.

I don't think I got this one. I got the "Still interested" and then "Woops, not this time. Talk to you in May." What/when was the email address one? After or before those went out?

regarding LOCI, go ahead and write another one. I don't think it'll hurt

I think it might have been afterward. I believe I got mine last Wednesday-ish and they also said we'll talk to you on May 13th.

Would you mind PMing it to me? Did you get the other two emails as well? I am just trying to figure out if I've been removed from consideration, since it seems like staying in the email group is the best sign you are still in the game.

I agree; can't hurt, might help. I was agonizing over whether to send an email re: continued interest, travel plans, deposit deadlines, etc. and got in shortly after I sent it. Maybe it was related, maybe it wasn't, but it certainly didn't hurt!

I got the same two emails that you did. The first was last Monday (from Cornblatt) and the second was this past Friday (from an admissions director contact). I have no idea what the difference is between people who received those two emails, and those who only received the "here's an email address" one.

SPWLers:

Did you send your LOCI(s) directly to your contact via email? Or via snailmail. I sent both of mine via email...but am wondering if that was professional enough...I mean, it is what we were asked to do...but I am wondering if a hard, sealed, letter might look better in my file.

Thoughts?

Email is always better. They ask you to for a reason. They are overwhelmed with paperwork, and an email ensures it gets to the right place. I usually attach it as a word document instead of in the email text body. Then just say "Please see attached letter. Thanks." I wouldn't worry.

Thanks. I ended up putting mine in the body of the email, just because some people get all squiggly about attachments...I basically wrote it in the form of a letter so it would fit that format. She responded right away when I sent the first one a few weeks back. No response to the second one yet. Meh.

I didn't get a response to either email :? I hadn't thought about the attachments issue, my reasoning was it would look nicer printed out if it were formatted in a word document. I suppose one couold always put it both places to be sure.

Any activity out there? I got a response to an email I sent in saying that updates would occur no later than May 10.
