There are a bunch of people with case vs. OSU what should I do threads.

It comes down to this basically:

Stay in Ohio = OSU
Leave = Case

Where would CWRU fall on this list?

Also does anyone know the highest CWRU ever was in the ranking?

Older data. I'd guess in the bad economy, Case is hovering around 10-12%%, and a good portion of that is in Cleveland/Chicago.

Wow so they barely missed the Go To Law Schools, literally by 1-2%. Not bad, this makes things even better. Where did you find the information on where? Just basing it off ENC% in USNWR?

WOW. I am so happy I am not going to U Minn. They place worse than Case in the NLJ! How are they a T20?!??!?!? WTF?!?!?

Because the incoming classes at Minnesota are considerably higher in LSAT/GPA than Case's. Moreover, I think that looking at a one-year snapshot of NLJ placement would be a worse ranking measure than student quality or peer reputation.

That being said, Case is really underrated in terms of career prospects and alumni network.

NLJ isn't everything. Minnesota has a lot more clerkships and more regional dominance, and probably more resources/faculty rep, which is all part of the formula for the rankings, and yes, they're much pickier in terms of LSAT - almost 6 points higher than Case. That's the single biggest determinant of rank. It may just be that the region has a larger proportion of 'midlaw' firms.

I have a question for those of you familiar with the area around the school. I am visiting the school next week and I am wondering where people would recommend staying? I am flying in from out of state and I do not plan on renting a car. I have never been to Cleveland, so I am pretty clueless. Any ideas are appreciated.

I think Case offers a $200 travel stipend, did you get that (assuming you were accepted this year)?

If not, the area to the east of the campus is the nicer area and would allow you to walk to campus and the good stuff around it. West of campus gets shady with the exception of the playhouse/clinic. You can take the RTA around town just fine but it's better to have a car.

Ok thanks for the advice. Yes, I have been accepted. I didn't know they offered a stipend. Do they offer the stipend to everyone? Would you recommend a specific hotel?

Nevermind, I just found the stipend info on the admitted students site.

I pretty much only stay at LaQuintas because they are cheap, still allow smokers, and always allow dogs with no extra charge (I have a fat, pissy chihuahua and her son, a very nervous dachshund, that go with us EVERYWHERE). If you have a car, there is a LaQuinta in Independence that sits on a hill and has a magnificent view of the city. I was pleasantly surprised. And it was only about $55 a night for a king-size.

I got the Doubletree (next to the LaQuinta) in Independence for $32 a night on Priceline. I need to work on getting my re-imbursement as well.

Dang... Unfortunately with dogs and smoking-preferences, it's difficult to name your own price. Isn't that a great view up on that little hill though?

Yes, indeed. I actually drove about 4 miles (from the hotel) on Rockside across the valley, and coming back there was an unbelievable view of Cuyahoga Valley National Park that really made it quite majestic.

I have to say that is one thing that really endears Cleveland to me. Not only do you have a ton of trees, parks, and nature, but you have that in stark contrast to the old factories and office buildings that give the city a kind of post-apocalyptic feel. Combine with that perhaps the only urban shoreline in the United States that hasn't been sold to casinos, condos, or otherwise developed beyond recognition and the over-abundance of local produce and focus on locally-owned businesses, and I am hooked. I think that the West Side Farmers Market having ghost peppers and Chantal Cheese really sealed the deal. I've been looking for both of those things for almost a year, and, lo and behold, I found them both in the same place.

In all seriousness I like the parks too, but (having grown up there) I am not as enthralled by the urban blight, although I'm all for creative ways of reusing old buildings. Also, bad news on the casino front - there will be one, in all likelihood. Just one, though.

Heck... who is 95+% sure about case? If so, why don't we at least get to know each other. I mean, if I'm gonna be stuck with you people for three years, might as well start getting to know ya now! I'm Christina, by the way :) http://www.facebook.com/rogueybear. If anyone wants to be facebook pals.

I stayed at the Glidden House Inn. It was really beautiful, there's a great coffee place behind it and a cool restaurant next to it. Plus the law school is literally right across the street....I loved visiting Case. Cleveland is great! I'm seriously considering Case for the fall...anyway, have fun!

I cannot wait for Thursday for the rankings to come out. Do we have any predictions as to where Case will end up this year? My guess is right above top 50, probably 51. (Don't wanna get my hopes up)
