I just had a mini heart attack when my gmail inbox got the (1) and the subject line of the e-mail contained the word "law", only to find out the southern illinois university, (a school I'd never heard of before), was e-mailing me to thank me for my interest in their school and to invite me to check out their site...

I find it a bit ironic that the website you posted has facebook, linkedin, twitter, and youtube shortcut/accounts on the home-page. Isn't that like the AA website selling advertising to Jack Daniels?

along these lines, just got a call from a random number while at work. promptly pooped my pants and ran into the hallway to answer it. WOOPS it was an automated recording of a telemarketer offering me vacation packages.

When I click on this thread it says Gmail - Inbox - (1) at the top and header and it makes me think I've got mail.

Did anyone get two emails from FSU encouraging them to apply? The second one was them recalling the first.

I got both as well, just deleted them without even reading.

Yes, I thought they wanted to let me know that the spam email they sent out to everyone did not apply to me and they in fact did not want me to send an application to them. I also got a third email that said the exact same thing as the first one. Texas Tech also sent me an email letting me know they are the best school in Texas. Too much spam.

Got each of those, furrowed my brow, sighed, and hit delete.

I go nuts seeing the "Inbox (1)" on my Gmail only to find that it is a LinkedIn update, Facebook update, or school spam. What did people do before crackberries/smartphones during the admissions process? lol They were probably more productive and less neurotic.

I just saw the little Gmail new mail pop up on my screen from the corner of my eye and stubbed my toe on my desk trying to get to my laptop. It was an email from Disney Resorts.

I have to stop checking this thread. I've left it up then had the "OMGZZZMAIL" freakout twice now. I feel like old GW : Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, shame on me, again, err...

+1

Is anyone still getting FEE WAIVERS!!!! I get absolutely livid when I pop into my gmail and see "law" and find out it's St. Johns or Brooklyn law trying to get me to apply this late in the game. Clearly, they haven't met their application quotas!

Grrrrrrrr

I dunno about you guys, but I don't bother to archive everything; I just treat my inbox as my archive.

I have (812).

you don't need to archive. The (x) is the number of new/unread emails

I applied in mid/early Jan. This wait is brutal. Now that it is Monday again, the wait/torture continues.

The worst part is that rather than be productive, I am playing on facebook and my facebook updates created e-mail alerts (aka: Inbox (1) teasers on the minimized screen)

ROTFLMAO @ this thread.

I sit at my computer at work almost the whole day, so I am subject to every single (1) that comes by during the day. Each one makes me pee my pants a little becuase I just want to get the fuck out of here, and any news about life after work is great news to me.

I'm pretty politically involved where I live, so 50% of the e-mails I am getting are from people running in the primaries for Commissioner of Agriculture or AG touting whatever county sherriff has now endorsed them. Either that or some DJ is spinning at some local club.

Yes, I think it's time for unsubscribe...

I see where people are coming from, but I mostly just get the rush of excitement at seeing the Inbox (1). I somehow manage to avoid the crash when it turns out to be Cumberland Law @ it again.

Today, I changed my gmail theme to an ocean background. It's helped relieve some of my anger towards my inbox. I recommend this to all of you :)

This thread is awesome

Everytime that (1) pops up I get this wave of anxiety that makes me hair stand up...then I realize its some bunk from Ticketmaster, or one of those fake messages from a-holes on craigslist that don't want to buy your stuff but tell you about free money the government is giving away....

Its also the feeling I get when a number thats not saved in my phone calls...I get all excited that I'm getting "the call"...then its a wrong number or something stupid like that.

I unsubscribed to a whole bunch of stuff this week, and now I'm getting nothing. I'm thinking the false hope of a (1) from some mailing list is better than the boredom of no hope at all. Before, at least I was excited for the two seconds it took me to notice the (1) and click on my gmail window. Now the grueling, miserable boredom of my job slogs on, uninterrupted, for the entire day. I wonder if there's a way to put myself in a medically-induced coma until seat deposits are due.

:?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
