You should have received an e-mail with the subject line, "Application Received - USF School of Law," soon after firing off your app on LSAC. In that e-mail are your user id and password for the online status checker (which is at http://www.law.usfca.edu/admissions/jd/apply.html left panel, "Application Status"). Although the status checker link is unique for each school, the checker system itself appears to be provided by LSAC and should be common to most schools.

DR on 02/09/2010. 3.0/150. Applied full-time, non URM, significant obstacles overcome written about in diversity statement, GPA addendum etc. Couldn't sleep last night in anticipation of what may or may not land in my inbox today. A URM on LSN with my same LSAT and lower GPA was accepted yesterday and her DR was on 02/08/2010 and she received her e-mail on the day I got my DR so I am really nervous those of us with DR on 02/09/2010 are rejects. Hopefully not.

I don't know what I'm hoping for with all the decisions that have been made recently. I went complete like 11/20 and, aside from the occasional date change, not a peep. I called to make sure they hadn't lost my app (knowing they wouldn't tell me anything over the phone) and they assured me they hadn't. I feel like at a 161 and 3.1 my lsat and sometimes my GPA are better than a lot of the people who're eagerly awaiting an envelope.

I'm a little jealous that people are getting decisions. I need to start planning my campus visits!

Sigh. Only time will tell.

Waitlisted for full time program...Is the same thing as a no, or do I have a chance?

If it were a rejection, you'd be rejected.

I'd start writing a letter of continued interest, and start the waiting game.

All applicants will be able to see if their application is either "Incomplete" or "Complete". If a decision has been made on your application, the status screen will read "Decision Rendered." All applicants will be informed of a final decision in writing via U.S. mail. No decisions will be posted on-line. Application review begins in early December and the typical review time may take anywhere from 6-8 weeks once your file is complete.

I was decision-rendered 02/08 so I'm hoping b/c I'm in Oregon it will take its time to get here within this week. But no email like other accepted applicants received prior to the mailed package makes me think I should be expecting a rejection :(

My app status changed for the third time since I've gone complete. 1/12 --> 2/3 --> 2/10

Could this be a sign that they're coming close to a decision? Anyone who experience this got a DR short after?

Thanks!

Letter of Interest in continued pursuit of admission would be the first step.

Can u elaborate more on this? Do u think extra letter or rec would help

Most schools actually indicate or encourage to write a letter that help improve your overall chance in moving up the list when you are wait-listed. I was at one school and they encouraged me to write why I would want to go this school and why I'm a good fit and why I'd be willing to wait as long as I could, etc.

I'm not sure an extra rec letter would work or even be considered, but it might be something to look into especially if you can get a real good one.

If you have a very good letter of recommendation writer willing to write a stellar letter, do it. And/or write a statement about why you this school is right for you, why the school should take you, what you will add, and how there is no question about it.

Whatever will help your app, do it.

The waitlist is saying "you're kinda qualified". Your goal should be to write a statement to pushes them to "you are qualified" when a spot opens up.

Would it be better to go to USF or Temple/Villanova for cheaper than USF? I think I want to end up practicing in SF, but I'm also open to the East Coast as well possibly as long as I eventually end up back in CA....

Now I'm glad I wasn't in the batch sent out on Monday. Phew! Looks like I've missed the first round of waitlists!
