I don't get it. Why so few full schollys? I applied to the part time program - 165, 3.95 - received 29k (tuition is a couple thousand more, but during my 4 years there, the margin will grow significantly). My numbers are in the high 75th percentile group, and I received full scholarships at higher ranked schools - yet would still like to go to brooklyn. I feel under-appreciated by not receiving a full - kind of a turnoff.

Visited the school today and found out the amount of my merit scholarship...$30,600/yr. Not too shabby.

Re: Brooklyn 09/10 cycle
i am quite dying of excitement right now but just need a drop of validation and reassurance that this is what i think it means:
Your Financial Aid Award Information For Year
2010
Financial Aid
Source Amount Action
1. Carswell
$18,400.00
Pending
2. Centennial Grant
$6,100.00
Pending
3. Acad Achievement
$6,100.00

Total Estimated Funds
Total Estimated Funds Available
$30,600.00
..the pending just means pending on my decision, right? ..i hope? and not on some other factors that are still in review? that would just seem cruel.
i got the email today of my merit scholarship and followed the advice to check the financial aid by year link on the brooklyn webadvisor, and this is what's there. i know this is probably a silly question, but does this mean that is my concrete scholarship offer?
i know, i am too much of an idiot to be able to get a merit scholarship..alas, i say.

my letter, and that of everyone else who's posted about it, has matched the scholarship on web advisor exactly.

In with $39.7K. Is all of it renewable, even the grant? I can't tell from the letter...
Also, is this the equivalent of a full ride? Does it get any "fuller?"

ill join the group of people that didnt get a full ride, yet expected one, and have received full rides from 'better' schools (in terms of career placement, ranking, and general prestige)

$30,600 as well. This throws a small wrench in my decision making. I have no idea what the GPA stipulations are, but if I could negotiate an NSA agreement I would contemplate taking it over Fordham. Interesting day.chocho wrote:mdgold wrote:+1 . 36,600 alsosibley wrote:H. E. Pennypacker wrote:I've got $21,200 through 3 different ones

Also, well played by BLS throwing this in at the last minute before deposits are due.

I've been so sick this week I haven't checked my email in days. I received a scholarship from bklyn as noted in webadvisor, but I haven't seen the physical letter yet.

If you get a full ride from Bklyn, will it say "full ride" or something to that effect in the letter? I got $39.7K... do they give more?

In off the WL for full time via e-mail. That was fast. At least someone likes my new LSAT .
I sent all my financial aid stuff in, so we will see what happens. Because I need a lot of $ if I even want to consider Brooklyn. Probably won't get a whole lot, but we'll see.

Re: Brooklyn 09/10 cycle
there was a currently bls student posting yesterday who said they give full rides. since cost of attendance is something like 66,000, I think it would have to be close to that much.lawschoollll wrote:If you get a full ride from Bklyn, will it say "full ride" or something to that effect in the letter? full ride doesn't include cost of living, which is factored into that $66000. To me, the main benefit of full ride over a scholarship equalling about the cost of tuition is that a full ride will continue to be full even if tuition increases.chutzpah wrote:there was a currently bls student posting yesterday who said they give full rides. since cost of attendance is something like 66,000, I think it would have to be close to that much.lawschoollll wrote:If you get a full ride from Bklyn, will it say "full ride" or something to that effect in the letter? Got the scholarship letter today. I find the additional "merit scholarship deposit" unsettling. Has anyone heard of something like this at other schools?

Re: Brooklyn 09/10 cycle
The fee is waived if you put down a housing deposit, which leads me to believe that they use that extra deposit as a way to deter people from putting down $300 just to save a seat they might not take (and occupying some thousands in scholarship money they won't take), thus allowing them to use that extra scholarship money to entice others to enroll. Just a guess.chutzpah wrote:Got the scholarship letter today. I find the additional "merit scholarship deposit" unsettling. Has anyone heard of something like this at other schools?
