For those that have been accepted: Please, upon recognizing that you will not attend, immediately withdrawal your applications... gives us bottom feeders a shot. Thanks.

Thanks!

I got my status checker about a week after I applied. Not sure how worthwhile the status checker is, though. It hasn't changed since I received it.

I returned my WL form with either option checked. I think it would be a helpful distraction to work while in school, and continuing your professional development never hurt anyone. Particularly if your current employment is in an area linked to your legal interests.

That is what I'm hoping - take the focus off of the stress that encircles you during law school. Good luck to you, I am sure you will get in if you stay on top of it. Is GMU your first choice?

No, but they are up there. My thinking is very in line with the university's emphasis on economics and national security. In addition, I would be very happy to go into federal service after LS, something they excel in.

Has anyone been accepted in any form other than a phone call? I.E. a decision mailed notification is basically a waitlist/reject if you do not get a call that day?

I had a friend who got in via mail (regular), but that was just because he wasn't reachable by phone.

I e-mailed them in December to withdraw my application (before getting a decision), received confirmation from the Admissions Coordinator that they would withdraw my application, and then got a phone call and a package this week saying that I had been admitted. I just sent my second withdrawal e-mail. Hopefully it'll stick this time.

Got letter in the mail today.

Rejected.

Stats: 161 and 3.6.

Not URM

Very surprising because I got a fee waiver, went to school undergrad in DC, worked in Virginia before moving to New York, and have been in law enforcement for a couple years.

Kinda want to call the admissions office and ask why? haha

question for the everyone...how often do applicants who got fee waivers get rejected?

George Mason waived the application fee for everyone this year.

Got a simple notification of acceptance by phone several days ago, and then received a full admit packet in the mail today. No scholarship money, and seemingly no prospect of any coming. One lucky waitlist occupant should be getting some good news soon.

I was wondering about scholarship info, i haven't got my packet yet. But do they do it later. Is it a separate application? Just curious. My understanding is that they aren't very generous.

Nothing in the actual letter of acceptance addresses scholarship money or the possibility of it. The only thing in the packet that does so is a print-out that talks mostly about loans. This mentions that no additional application is required for scholarship consideration, and that scholarships and fellowships are, in fact, awarded. It also provides a link to a publicly available school webpage having to do with scholarships.

The packet was quite underwhelming, even for me. Judging by the results from previous cycles, George Mason cannot be expected to help one out much at all. There appear to have been numerous 170s with solid GPAs who got nothing at all. Also, the distribution of scholarship awards is quite irregular, suggesting that softs likely play a big role, if not the major one, in determining who gets money.

Oh,no, I do want some money from GM, cuz the COL in Arlington seems high to me,despite the low tuition.
Anyway, I send email to ask about the sholarship, I will let you guys know if I get anything.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
