My status did not change, ever. and I have been accepted for a month already. So don't worry too much.

on even brighter note, I along with many others who did not receive a scholly will be withdrawin ASAP (as in, when I figure out how exactly I am supposed to withdraw).

I've been complete since 2/2, and haven't heard anything. No more complete updates, no we're still deciding email. A friend of mine went complete at a later date than me, and got a rejection letter yesterday. I suppose no news is good news? It's still frustrating though.

After gaining access to the Admitted Students page, how long does it generally take for L&C to send out Decisions? Do you guys think the complete date change is a signal that they send out the letter or the day you can access to the site is the signal? Or maybe just a random day??

I gained access to the site on the 9th and live in Nor Cal...still no mail. Anyone with experience mind sharing the difference in days and their location? I'm extremely excited about the possibility of attending L&C, it was a major reach for me. Thanks!

Lewis & Clark is really seeking to retain top class students by offering the majority of the scholarships in motherloads to those students. I suppose this is a tactic to try and increase LSAT and GPA averages of each successive entering class in an attempt to increase selectivity and approach elite level. Lewis & Clark is also spending a lot of money on paying their professors and keeping the student-to-faculty ratio low. This is also indicative of the fact that L&C is also on a very tight budget comparatively to other schools. They really seem to be active in moving up the ranks.

I was told that by the first deposit deadline there should be "considerable" amount of money left over. Those who submit the first deposit will be reconsidered for the remaining pool of scholarship money.
Thank you for posting this. I am happy to hear this perspective.
Well I hope it gives those who are waiting for acceptance letters and those without scholarship money to at least consider.

Anybody find it fishy if the school claims to NOT have funds to redistribute immediately after the first deposit deadline?

Or even fishier if they claim they won't have any new funds to give out til after the second, MAJOR deposit is due?

they had funds, but gave them all away. They are waiting to see what funds will not be claimed and reissue them
nothing fishy about that, just some poor planning

That is the point though, they had funds and gave them all away, now the first deposit deadline has passed and they claim that *NO* funds have come back to them to redistribute? Are you kidding me? Especially if this is a school that isn't exactly the prettiest girl at the prom, etc.

I am a student at the school.

Two things:

1. L&C does this with scholarship money every year. It is clearly a strategy they have to front load their scholarship money to early appliers to entice people to commit earlier. As people reject the offers some money frees up and they immediately give it to others who they are accepting. A lot of people don't make a final decisions until around April, so they end up giving most of the money freed up to the best people still on hold.

THE MESSAGE FOR FUTURE PEOPLE: APPLY AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE, ESPECIALLY TO L&C. Waiting until December to take the LSAT to apply to L&C is probably a very bad idea if you want a lot of money.

2. Stop looking at the status checker. It is only useful for finding out when you have gone complete. The updated dates mean nothing. If you gain access to the admitted student site, that means that you are accepted. However, the status checker will probably never reflect the decision.

I just got back from an awesome visit to Portland and Lewis and Clark on Friday night. Portland is absolutely incredible and my visit to Lewis and Clark was equally as great. The law school itself is very very tiny (my tour of it took 20 minutes), but it's beautiful. Every person I encountered was super friendly and totally reinforced in me that putting my deposit down for Lewis and Clark was the right decision.

Hope everyone who is getting to go on Admitted Students Weekend has a great time!

I concur. Has anyone joined the L&C 2013 Facebook page? I suspect a large number of us are on there and someone has organized a get-together after the reception on Thursday night. I am also down for hanging out Friday evening after the school events and Saturday if people want to.

From my own contact with the admissions office my understanding was that the first deposit deadline is April 15th. When I approached them regarding scholarship funds, they offered to put me on a list of students requesting reconsideration and they delayed my first deposit deadline from April 15 to May 2nd in order to make sure they will be able to let me know well before my deposit would be due. I'm not sure what impetus they would have for offering scholarship money to those people who have already deposited.

I will be there on Friday only. Prob be by myself or w/ my dad if he feels like it. He loves school gatherings.

We should come in some recognizable theme to distinguish ourselves and have a little fun. For example I'm assuming on Fri the attire is casual as opposed to business casual on Thu, so we can all wear a green shirt or something along those lines.

Can someone cross-post the Facebook get-together? Some of us still resist Facebook's charms.

Got my acceptance packet today! As of now L&C is my front runner. As for scholarships, my letter didn't mention a word about it... not even that they ran out of money and may have more later. However, I'm not expecting a dime because of my numbers.

First Complete: 2/4/10
Second Complete: 3/4/10
Access to site: 3/9/10

Alrighty, the facebook get-together wasn't organized as a public event but since 87 people were invited (I'm guessing every member of the group at the time it was organized) I don't think it will matter if we give out the location. As of now, 29 people are confirmed so it is going to be a wee bit nuts anyway. The plan was to head over after the Thursday night reception.

8:30-11 (or whenever)
Dragonfish Cafe
909 SW Park Ave
PDX
--LinkRemoved--

Dragonfish is a sushi restaurant/bar with a decent happy hour. A lot of people are staying at hotels near the place so that is why it was chosen.

I can't make it to that event on Thursday since my flight gets in at 9pm, so would anyone be interested in a Friday event as well?

Perhaps non-pub places? I know that's a shocker going into one of the best microbrewery towns in the US, but that's just my preference.

Man, I wish I could be there for the ASD. I just can't afford it. Lewis and Clark is currently my first choice if my wife doesn't get off the waitlist at UIUC... just be sure to fill in those of us who can't go to the ASD!
