so, what's the deal with $$ from NYU? i know there were a bunch of scholarship things on the application, but i didn't bother to apply for any of them

do they still give merit aid aside from those scholarships? when do you hear about that sort of thing?

I don't know if they give merit aid aside from those scholarships, but at least the public interest scholarships (full tuition) say that they will call by March 17 to tell you if you need to come interview or not... so it seems like it could be a while to wait for any $$.

Congrats to everyone who got in! I'm super excited, there was definitely much rejoicing over the purple envelope.

Yeah, I think it's these "Dean's Awards": http://www.law.nyu.edu/financialaid/sch ... /index.htm
It would be pretty crappy if they didn't, since a lot of applicants are likely to feel that none of the specialty scholarships are really appropriate for them. But I'm pretty sure that's what these are. Looks like we just need to fill out a financial aid form - so they can take need into account as well as merit, I guess. But it sounds like they do give some awards based solely on merit; the "strongest class possible" wording on the main scholarship page is very encouraging: http://www.law.nyu.edu/financialaid/sch ... /index.htm

so it just sort of sunk in that I'm going to be attending a top 6 law school (top 5 if we go by this year's US news) and I'm sort of unbelievably pumped. thank god that nyu let us know so early in the process - it's a really comforting safety net. now, even if I don't get into harvard/stanford/columbia, I know I'll be at an incredibly good school in an incredibly cool city.
