Re: In at NYU!!
I got accepted back in December, and still haven't received my "Big Book" and Faculty Profile book. Meanwhile, Columbia accepted me in late January, and has sent me a ton of additional info. Is there anyone else in a similar situation? Should I contact the school or something?

Don't sweat it, I was in a similar position... NYU first and Columbia later. Columbia gave me all their stuff fast.Series70 wrote:I got accepted back in December, and still haven't received my "Big Book" and Faculty Profile book. I just got the NYU book and faculty book on Friday. I was accepted on 1/21 for NYU.

+1. I don't know whether it is because my address is international or not... When do people usually get their "Big Book" and Faculty Profile book?Series70 wrote:I got accepted back in December, and still haven't received my "Big Book" and Faculty Profile book. Re: In at NYU!!
FWIW, I had to talk to the financial aid office on Friday for another reason (ridiculously complicated family financial situation) and I asked them, in passing, if all of the merit aid had been distributed already.
The person I spoke to assured me that there was more to come-there is hope for all of us!!

All? I wasn't aware that any aid had been distributed yet...monkeygirl wrote:FWIW, I had to talk to the financial aid office on Friday for another reason (ridiculously complicated family financial situation) and I asked them, in passing, if all of the merit aid had been distributed already.

Yep. I got a call at around 4 pm last Wednesday (2/17) inviting me to interview for the RTK.

As far as I'm aware, none has. All that's happened have been invitations to apply for the Dean's scholarships and for interviews for the named scholarships.babaghanouj wrote:All? Anyone know if all of the rtk finalists have been contacted? Aka is it time to be super dissapointed? Is the rtk more numbers focused or based on sifts/ the essays?

No clue, sorry. All I know is that some finalists have been contacted. You might try calling them and asking.wackadoodle wrote:BenJ wrote:As far as I'm aware, none has. Re: In at NYU!!
Start hitting up every top 14 school for money.
Say things like 'I'm very interested in school x, but cost is a major issue, and school y is closer/cheaper/etc." You'd be surprised how much money you might be able to negotiate up to. Also, once you get your first offer, send it to other schools and see what they give you.
Although the admissions offices are in contact with each other, they are quick to match each other's offers. I got one school to completely match my offer by another school, just by making them aware of it.

Re: In at NYU!!
FINALLY sent in the financial aid application yesterday. bleah.
BTW, I apologize to the group for being so unclear a few days ago. when I spoke to the NYU financial aid folks, they told me that only some of the finalists had been contacted so far, not that only some of the $$ had been awarded.
My fault for stirring up a small flurry here--please forgive me .

Shouldn't we be hearing about AnBryce this week? I remember reading late feb as the notification time for finalist...

I really hope so. I need to make plans for my next two months and it depends a lot on whether I will get an interview or not...coollegemex wrote:Shouldn't we be hearing about AnBryce this week? I remember reading late feb as the notification time for finalist...

Re: In at NYU!!
For those that have been invited to apply for a merit-based scholarship: was there a specific application for this? Or is filling out the generic financial aid application sufficient? Honestly, I found the letter inviting me to apply a bit ambiguous.
