I'm starting to think something went wrong with my app... I asked to be switched over to EC in October, which they confirmed. But now since I'm not getting the mail I'm thinking that something's messed up. FML

From what I recall, it's only binding if you put your money down for the seat deposit. But the deadline for that is Jan. 15th, so if you don't deposit (and subsequently withdraw everywhere else) by then they are free to revoke their offer of admission.

I applied EC to Hastings as well. 164 / 3.8 and out of school for 3 years working in banking.

Seriously? You hoping to get a scholarship? Those numbers + WE... you can do better I would think?

Edit: And of course absolutely not disrespect intended, just wondering what the reason behind a binding decision is when you could have easily gotten in regular

Well, that's the easy part. The hard part is deciding what to do with the higher-ranked schools you applied to and have yet to hear from yet.

No worries, didn't think it was disrespectful. I want to practice/live in San Francisco after graduation, I've visited Hastings and really enjoyed it, and I like schools that are in denser urban areas despite a lack of a traditional campus (went to NYU undergrad). When I took all these into account, Hastings came out as my preferred school. Just my personal preference.

Ugh, why does it have to be the one law school I really want to get into? For some reason I just DO NOT want to end up at Loyola, even with 2/3 tuition coverage (assuming I even get that).

Actually, Hastings was (and still is, I believe) the cheapest of the UC law schools. Berkeley and Davis are definitely more expensive; don't remember UCLA's numbers offhand but when they raised Hastings' tuition they showed us this graph with all the other UCs on it and Hastings was cheapest.

Why not try Davis/USD?
