I just got decision made on Friday. I have first deposit listed with no amount however and same with the second. What does everybody think about this? I got in at santa clara and they had actual amounts listed so just seeing what everyones experience is if they got in or not with no amounts listed. Thanks

They change that deposit info on your page once they receive your deposit. Once I sent my deposit in, they changed it to say how much it was (500) and the date it was received and due.

Call em back, saw that this happened to lots of people, usually schools are pretty understanding about situations like that.

So last night I get a call from the Maryland. I answer the phone waiting for some good news. It was the alumni association asking for money. Huge downer!

No clue... :) LOL, I’d sell my first theoretical child for a shot at UMD's health law program. :( Still under review there...

Sent my deposit in this week after visiting last weekend. I can't wait to move to Baltimore! Anyone know where they are living? I was considering Fayette Square but I think I can find cheaper places just a little farther from the school.

I sent my desposit in, and got the email back confirming their receipt of my check. I was thinking about organizing a "bar review" or two in the summer to start making acquaintances with my fellow classmates. let me know if you're interested and if you know others who have committed to UMD.

The first week of 1L is pretty much dedicated to ice breakers as well.

Look at Marlboro Street and Redwood Square apartments (i think that's the name). It's right across from the law school, literally, and is within a block of Camden Yards. Used to live there if yall have any questions.

I'd be interested in a possible meetup - currently living in the city anyway, so no need to wait until August I guess

I'd be interested to hear about Marlboro Street & Redwood - Still trying to convince my husband to live around school, so we're trying to get as many first-hand reviews from people as possible. I know it's not the best area but I would REALLY like to avoid driving in every day if possible.

Glad to see some others joining up. Looking forward to seeing you all in the fall :)

You can also look at Avalon Centerpoint, it's only like 2 blocks from the school on Baltimore St

I've put down my deposit for Maryland as well, also currently living in Baltimore (Federal Hill). I'd be interested in a meet up as well. The only unfortunate thing about Maryland is that the law school isn't walking distance from the best neighborhoods to live in - Canton, Fells Point, Mt. Vernon, Fed Hill, etc.

+1 :(

The guy on my tour during ASD said he walks in from Fed Hill, which, call me crazy, does not sound like fun. But it's doable I guess. Looks like Mount Vernon/Station North or right around school are the most likely options for me & mr. jdhopeful, but I am really gonna miss SoBo

I know its kinda far away from the school, but if you were to live in canton or fells how long do you think the walk would take? Also, if you decide not to walk any idea about what that drive (or bus trip) would be like?

sent my deposit in a couple weeks ago. i'll be coming down to b-more this summer to look at housing and would be up for a bar review. When i visited my guide told me "most 1L's choose Fayette square for the convenience". Anyone set on not living in Fayette?

I am not sure that is correct. I know a number of people who have graduated from MD or are currently there, and none of them (including from the other professional schools and our tour guide at ASD) lived in Fayette Square. The surrounding apartment building (most notably the Avalon) seemed to be a better bang for your buck.

Also, I am married, so not doing the whole dorm thing, which might sway my opinion. If you are fresh out of UG and looking for a convenient place right by school (especially if you're new to the area), I think Fayette could work.

Thanks to all for the info! Congrats on acceptances! I'll be attending Maryland PT program - very excited. I've never even been to the state so finding apartments online has been a challenge. Fayette looks okay but I'd prefer to leave the "dorm style" life as I've been out of college for a few years already.

Are there any recommendations out there about living outside the city? Suburbs etc? With the PT program I'm hoping to have a little more time to commute and live somewhere nicer during the day. Thanks!

I'll be in Baltimore over the summer as well - a bar review sounds fantastic!

If you aren't from the area, I would recommend staying in a nicer part of the city (previously mentioned, like Canton, Federal Hill, Fells Point, or even Hampden) if you don't mind a commute, rather than a suburb (the ones I will mention can be rather staid and uninteresting for anyone without a family/children). But maybe that's personal preference.

However, if I had to recommend suburbs, they'd be Towson or Columbia, if you're going for that slightly yuppie/squeaky clean feeling. Those are both going to be a 25-20 minute drive probably though. Catonsville's a little closer but more families and less nice/upscale apartments and more single-family houses.

Good luck with PT... a few of my friends started last year and I hear good things. Congrats!
