So how exactly do curves work? I've never took a class where they curved.
I think you might be misunderstanding the "professors don't give out A's" statement. That isn't to say you can't get A's. In fact, you can get A+'s. The way the curve works is the professor will grade the exam and give it a numerical score. Then he has to assign a letter grade to it. Those letter grades have to average to roughly a B (between 2.975 and 3.025 or something like that). In other words, a prof could give half the class A's, but then would have to give half the class C's to balance. Or, a prof could give the whole class B's and would meet the curve. There is no required grade distribution, so profs can adjust grades however they need to in order to keep the curve. So in a class of 70, you might see 4 A's, 6 A-'s, 12 B+'s, 24 B's, 16 B-'s and 8 C+'s.
Thanks a lot for that explanation! Makes a lot of sense.

I have another question though. On a 4.0 scale, what does a B-, B, B+, A- and A+ equal? Thanks.
A+ 4.33
A 4.0
A- 3.66
B+ 3.33
B 3.0
B- 2.66
C+ 2.33
C 2.0

Hey just wondering, when am I able to purchase my Nj TRANSIT pass? I haven't been able to purchase it at all. Whenever I go to this website - http://njtransit.rutgers.edu/ and try to log in, it says that I'm not a full-time student or grad student

Hey everyone,
I am in track VI (6)

Prop - Sclar
Contracts - Hyde
Torts - Gold
Crim Law - Francione
LRW - Soled

Can any upper class students offer any advice or insight regarding these professors? I just have this feeling that I have been stuck with a terrible list of professors after the previous comment about Sclar. Also, what is the link for the facebook group for our class?

Thanks

I received an email yesterday that the term bill was available to be viewed and paid, but when I log in, it is not showing any of my financial aid. Do I actually need to print out the Financial Aid Award Letter from the website and mail it to the PO Box in New Brunswick (as the email directs) to have this updated, or is this the normal pattern and the aid will show up on the term bill in a couple of days?

I e-mailed them about this and they said to give it a few days and the financial aid should credit. In case anyone else is wondering work-study doesn't credit like the other fin. aid.

My fin. aid. is showing up right now. w00t I get a credit! Of course, my loans will have to be paid back at some point. I think Justice Clarence Thomas recently mentioned he is still paying back his loans.

Help me guys please! I would like to decrease the amount of Grad PLUS loan on the Data Change form but it will only let me decrease the DIRECT sub and unsub loans. The DIRECT loans have lower interest rates-so I would like to KEEP those- any thoughts? (or i can only change the Direct and NOT the PLUS? ) Thanks!

No. But my.rutgers.edu will show your courses. I <3 my.rutgers. The tabs along the top are useful for financial aid things.

Did you submit your immunization form? If you haven't, the assignment won't be disclosed to you.

I just sent it, but it's still being processed.

Hi this might be a really stupid question, so just be patient with my stupidity, if you can...

For those who are preparing to use financial aid to pay for law school and everything else, did you find that only around 1300 was left after you paid tuition, housing (on university square), and books for this semester. So how are we gonna pay for food and gas?

THX in advance.

I am an undergraduate who relies on NJ Transit to commute to Rutgers-Newark. The process is quite simple. You cannot enroll or purchase a discounted pass until after your term bill is paid, that is the policy from Rutgers. After you pay your term bill, then you may enroll in the program online, or get the paper form and have it stamped and present it to the transit ticket office to receive your discount. There is one advantage to the paper form, with that being you avoid the extra 3 dollar per month processing charge that is associated with the online enrollment. If you have any other transit related questions do ask.

Has anyone been able to get into the Law School link under "My Organizations Plus" on Blackboard, where Dean Walton is directing us to see updates to the book list? For me, the "My Organizations Plus" box states "You are not currently participating in any organizations." Just wondering if that's a general problem, or if somehow I didn't get enrolled in the correct organization.

You've got a nice schedule. Don't worry about it. The more things tell you about your professors the more you judge them before you've given them a chance to make an impression on you. Every track as a mix of easy profs and harder ones, very socratic and barely socratic, tenured and new profs. You actually don't have any new profs. They're all Rutgers veterans. You'll be fine.

You won't know until a few weeks into school. The school doesn't make the MSP schedule, that's up to the individual MSP groups to determine when they will meet with their groups. I think for every class you have 2 meetings per week. It's on an alternating schedule. For example one week you may have your contracts and torts meeting the next week you will have property and contracts. I think each meeting is 1 hour. So every break you have between classes you can expect to fit in an MSP meeting. There is also an LRW TA class that ALL 1Ls have that is not put on the schedule. Every week you will meet with your LRW TA for about an hour. It'll be a different time than your regularly scheduled LRW class. So expect to be BUSY

You won't see anything there until you are registered for class, and until your professor "opens" the class up.
That's where you'll see your book list and first day assignment. Just keep checking back and eventually something will be populated, but not before your class schedule shows up.

give Nikki Fornoratto the Director of Financial aid in the law school a call and ask her to help you.

Is it possible to just NOT attend some MSP meetings? I feel like it's rather overboard to have to go to all of those meetings. I can get further in my studies by studying by myself and doing the needed readings.
