Thanks! Denver is not my top choice but it is up there. If I don't get accepted to anymore schools I'll definitely go to Denver.

What's up guys? Long time lurker on here. Denver is my top school as I am only looking at good schools in places where I can relocate permanently. Based on cost alone, though, it's looking hard to justify, as I'm going to have to quit my 9-5. What do you think my chances are of getting any scholarships?

Undergrad: 3.whatever from big state school
Masters: Upper 3's while working full time
LSAT: 163

4+ years of reputable career experience, average softs.

I'd love to see you guys in the fall. Let me know what you think.

You should have a great shot at scholarship. Though a lot might depend on your GPA... 3.2's a lot different than 3.9, for example. But assuming you're in the upper 3.whatevers, I think you'll get offered 22K, based on other people's offers/numbers. Even if you're in the lower 3's, you should still be good for a pretty decent scholly, with a 163.

Undergrad was very low 3s due to vigorous merrymaking and sports. Masters was mid-upper 3's due to me having to pay for it out of pocket! Is the 22k scholly you are seeing aggregate for 3 years or per year? Over three years, that puts it at $7333 which leaves ~$28k/yr in tuition alone. Like I said, DU is far and away my #1 if not for the steep sticker. Probably doesn't make sense if it's going to cost me anywhere close to $70k+ in loans

I don't think your Masters G.P.A. will be much of a factor although the fact that you have a Masters is a good soft. Sports and other extracurricular activities in Undergrad may be taken into consideration as well. That said I think you have a pretty good shot at scholly money with a low 3's and 163. The 22k you keep seeing is per year and you will have to maintain a certain GPA in order to retain it.

+1. As the previous poster said, Masters GPA won't count much for scholarship consideration, because only UGPA is factored into rankings. For the most part, schools award (merit) scholarships based on how much a person will help their rankings.

Well if your content with staying in Colorado and more specifically the greater Denver area, I would think 15K is bargain. However, you'll also have to figure in cost of living (about 14k/year according to LSN) that's going to change the number dramatically...

Thanks for the thoughts on the $$. As far as cost of living, I'm from a big city and am only applying to schools, with the exception of UF, that are also in large metro areas, so my cost of living forecast is pretty upsetting in comparison to a lot of other schools in college towns. It's going to be a lot more upsetting to pay for what I'm paying now on loans instead of salary. I don't know, maybe it will be nice to have money just show up in my account for once.

I don't think so. I went decision processed and then received the email the next day and the scholarship offer the following day.

I was there for a week this past spring and saw some great condos and lofts downtown that I would really like but i have a sneaky suspicion that the commute would be horrendous. I also spent some time in Glendale/Cherry Creek and it was pretty nice, so I think the south side of town by the school is probably fine. Just google maps the campus though and it looks like student ghettos in all directions. Rental house fiesta. Your pooch is as good as home.

Hi all congrats to everyone who go t in since my last log in. Sorry I have not been around much I have been studying for the bar exam, which is in like 20 days (EEEK!). For those who are new I graduated from DU in May (part time program plus an MLS/LLM). I’ll try and check in sproduicaly between now and March 1st (after the exam). If you got questions that I can answer in SHORT yes/no before that I will try. After that I’ll have more time to make longer responses. Congrats everyone!

How was OCI for your class, and how many people had jobs lined up before graduation? How do these numbers compare to previous yrs?
