Did you fill out the wait list form? If so, which option did you choose:

A.) Yes would be interested in attending Tulane if offered acceptance from the WL

or

B.) Yes I would be interested in attending Tulane but only if offered a scholarship.

You were also required to enter a date that you must hear a final decision by. What date did you give them?

I did fill it out, and I chose A. Is this some sort of sick joke? Has anyone ever gotten off the WL so fast?

the fact you are willing to pay $42,000 + x 3 probably had something to do with it

Eh, I dunno - I'm sure there are people out there with much better stats than me (158/3.87) willing to pay sticker.

Is there a facebook group or other thread for admitted students to discuss housing, etc? Checked back a few pages and didn't see anything. If not I'll start one.

I'm still waiting to hear about the first ASW...

1) is it worth attending even if you've already been to New Orleans?

2) did most people bring a guest or two? I'd be doing this thing solo.

I am seriously impressed with their package/tote bag. I will most likely be withdrawing but this is definitely the coolest piece of mail I've ever received.

Just got the wait list email now... seriously bummed.

I really want to go to Tulane, but am worried about the cost. Not sure which box to check off on this WL form (about still being interested/interested only if scolly $$). I don't have great scores, but still held a TINY bit of hope. :( (a girl can dream can't she? lol)

Time to buy a lotto ticket.

I am also interested in a facebook page for incoming 1L's. I am definitely looking for housing and would like to find a roommate to keep cost down. The admitted students site is good for looking for apartments, but has very few options for possible roommates. Let me know when this page is up and if anyone wants to look for housing, pm me!

There's a Tulane Law Class of 2013 FB page, but it is closed, so you have to request to join, so I don't know if that means you have to commit before joining or not.

Just got back from the first one—you're going to love it there!

Tell us about it

This will be long—I loved Tulane and New Orleans, so I have a lot to say. :) Full disclosure, this is the first law school that I've visited, the first law class I ever attended, etc, so if anyone else was there and has something to compare it to, I (and I'm sure many others) would love to hear your thoughts.

First off, I will start with the aesthetics... the campus made a very, very nice first impression. I walked through the quad to get to the law school—it's a very classic college campus, which was different from my undergrad, so I liked that.

We sat in on a Con Law class, and I thought the professor was very good. He did use the Socratic method, but he was not overly intimidating. Further, there was a lot of voluntary participation from the students, which I thought was very positive.

The law school building (Weinmann Hall) felt, to me, a lot like a high school building. There are lockers in the hallway, and students congregated around there in between classes. I almost felt like I was in school myself that day, since they had us going from classroom to classroom for each of the different seminars. The classrooms themselves were spacious, bright and comfortable. I also found the library to be very impressive—lots of resources and a beautiful reading room. You can rent a cubicle (I can't remember if this goes by year or by semester) and leave your stuff there all the time, if you choose. There didn't seem to be that many of them, but the student giving the tour said he never had a problem finding a place to study in the library, even during finals.

Tulane emphasizes and takes great pride in the happiness of their students. Indeed, all of the students I met while I was there (at lunch and at the mixer) were enthusiastic about the school and seemed to be well-adjusted. It's very much a work hard, play hard atmosphere at Tulane, from what I gathered. The weather and the city were perfect, and the students seemed to feel that these things have played a big role in their law school experience. While law school is stressful no matter where you go, they all seemed to feel that the lively, friendly city of New Orleans is a great de-stresser. And you can't beat walking out of a tough class/exam in the middle of winter and finding yourself in 65-degree, sunny weather, as opposed to the gray winters up north.

The area around Tulane is residential and felt very safe. I relied on the streetcar (there is a stop right in front of Tulane) to get around while I was there, but I don't know if I could deal with that for three years. It only comes once every 15-20 minutes or so, at times it was extremely crowded, and it moves VERY slowly. I think it would be hard to not have a car there, although I think most students live within walking distance of campus.

One of the last segments of the ASD was a student panel, and there were no faculty or administrators in the room for this. The students who participated were (not surprisingly) among the creme de la creme—most were on law review, etc. At one point, an admitted student asked if any of them had turned down a scholarship at a lower-ranked school/in-state tuition, and they kind of all got quiet... so it was pretty obvious that they'd gotten some pretty sweet offers from the school and turned down sticker at higher-ranked schools (one girl on the panel said that she turned down sticker at Fordham and an ivy and was very happy with her decision). For me... if I go to Tulane, I would be paying sticker, so I kind of wish there had been someone on that panel who could vouch for the school despite not being there with lots of $$$.

Anyway, sorry this is so long, but I hope it is somewhat helpful. If you have more questions, feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer.

I actually called about this, because I wanted to understand how they use this.
I have a deposit date in a few weeks, and it would be ideal to know before that point, but I wouldn't want to be taken off the list. ... They said that if that date came around, they would contact you to see if you wanted to stay on. So I went with an earlier date.

Hm, when I toured, they said that you can get them for a few hours, but that you couldn't get them for long-term. I specifically asked if they had long-term because many schools do have this.
Maybe he/she just didn't know they had it because he/she doesn't use them.

Oh, that is strange... I'm pretty sure this is what I was told, although I could be wrong. I always studied in cubicles when I was in undergrad, so, for me, the prospect of having my own cubicle was very exciting, haha.

Yea. Many schools have it setup were you share with one other person for the year.
The student that gave me a tour was a 3L and he/she said that he/she didn't use the study carrels. So, I'm thinking that its maybe a newer thing that they are renting them out long-term or just that he/she didn't know they did long-term.
