I'm sooooo hoping for scholarship $$ to Tulane... I applied late and my LSAT is lower than most of you guys. I was hoping being a former Louisiana public school teacher would help. I hope I find out soon!!!!

I'm getting psyched on Tulane. Do you like living in New Orleans? That is the only question mark for me: how is living in New Orleans now?

Re: Tulane 2010
Sadly, I've never lived in New Orleans. I lived in another part of the state that was not nearly as cool. However, my SO lived there pre- and post-Katrina. He has mixed feelings because of the hopelessness he saw in so many of his friends after the storm. Overall it's mixed reviews. I absolutely love the culture and the people there, but it is a little depressing/inspiring there. To see a city survive everything that's been thrown at it is inspiring. Seeing how much of the city is still destroyed is kinda depressing. New Orleans feels a lot like home to me though. I'm originally from Memphis, and it has a similar feel. The great thing about New Orleans is the culture, soul and history of it combined with the unique people.

Yeah, New Orleans is looking good after tonight's game. It would be cool to be part of this period for such an historic city. The music scene attracts me, and Louisiana has arguably the most enticing film production tax incentives in the country, which might prove to be important down the road.

I'm really struggling between Tulane & U of H. Someone on here help sway me on one or the other.
Yes, I realize this is entirely too vague but indulge me.

Coming from the North, the lay prestige of Tulane dwarfs that of U of H by leaps and bounds.

Surprising (IMO) rejection on LSN numbers today. Sucks because my GPA is only a tiny bit higher than his. What a lame cycle.

I originally went complete in October and this is about my 4th/5th time. Maybe assembling our fat scholarships just takes time (here's to hoping!).gatorlion wrote:+1 I think it's my 3rd time going complete...jayare wrote:Just updated complete date from 2/4 to 2/8 this morning at about 8am Pacific.

I remember wearing a t-shirt and shorts on Christmas, if that's any indication.

From Wikipedia: The climate of New Orleans is humid subtropical (Koppen climate classification Cfa), with short, generally mild winters and hot, humid summers.
You can check it for the month-by-month chart.

Check out the 10 day forecast before you go I'll give a fairly good indication of the temps while you're there.minkins wrote:Go to weather.com, it will give you monthly averages.Yellowcard wrote:Anyone know what the weather is like in New Orleans?

Put it this way- snow has been forecast for Friday and everyone is losing their minds since this will be the 2nd or 3rd time this winter. This pretty much never happens. Cold down here starts at around 50-40F. The entire time I have lived in Louisiana I have never seen it go lower than the teens (and high teens at that). It is not uncommon to have 100+F summers, so invest in some lightweight clothes.

Re: Tulane 2010
Does anyone have any thoughts on the Cost of Attendance figures they included in the packet? Even with a 25k/yr scholarship (I AM VERY GRATEFUL) you are looking at 35k / year of loans. Maybe I have unrealistic expectations regarding the overall cost of law school but Tulane seems like a very (nearly prohibitively) expensive option at this point.

Me. I have the same scholarship offer and Tulane is my personal favorite but I'm feeling my other options will be MUCH cheaper overall and i'll still be very competitive in the areas I want to practice. It's a tough decision so I feel ya... What are your other school options?JayCole wrote:Does anyone have any thoughts on the Cost of Attendance figures they included in the packet?
