I feel that if I can't manage to stay in the top 2/3's of the class, then perhaps I don't belong in law school.

Exactly. If I'm not in top 2/3rds, then i have more important things to worry about.

Although... 1 out of every 3 people will be in that position.

Thats a lot of people that don't belong at law school O.o

Going to send in my seat deposit today. Im guessing i should send something to accompany the check, but what? A short note? Once i get over the disappointment of no scholarship, i think i will be super excited. Give me a month. Soon ill be asking for golf/tennis/softball/football/racquetball/volleyball/etc... people to replace all of the guys im leaving behind in chicago.

I sent a short note with my name, lsac number and ss number even though I wrote it on the check. I also said I was looking forward to seeing them in the fall. I was tempted to slip a crisp $5 in to help persuade the scholarship comittee

Just sent in my check, FedEx overnight, just in case with a transmittal letter expressing my excitement to be joining WF.

Hmm, i just went to FexEx and they told me that they cannot deliver to a p.o. box, so I had to use regular mail. Maybe non-scholarship people get a different address to send in deposits?

While that is a reasonable thought, I will remain enrolled regardless of whether I am above or below the top 2/3 (or whether I "belong"), and, as long as I am there, I would like for them to pay for it. (Mind you, I don't necessary think they should pay for it. I would just like for them to. I can always hope can't I?). The top 2/3 requirement is very reasonable, and it makes sense not to negotiate it. I was just wondering if anyone had any success with them since they seem to be pretty difficult to deal with in that regard.

Yeah, I had no inclination at all to negotiate the scholarship stipulation - they are about as good as I have seen, aside from no stipulation at all.

Does anyone know if WF gives non-binding deferrals?

I declined my scholarship this afternoon, hope it goes to one of you who really wants it.

Pretty sure I am going to be taking the year off.

I highly doubt anyone has had success. Many people have sent them e-mails about various scholarship negotiations, and many times wake chooses to simply ignore the e-mails.

If you think you've got the leverage though, go for it man! why not, right?

$25K a year back in the pot tomorrow. It killed me, but I hope it really changes someone's life. Good luck guys, it's a great school.

Juuuuust out of curiosity...

... what do you guys think the chances are of WFU moving up in the rankings? They improved their clinical programs, right? Plus, they are currently a little bit lower than what their average rank over the last ten years has been.

No idea, but I HOPE wake goes up enough to pass UNC ( UNC needs to drop in the rankings, especially after waitlisting me)

My bias might be showing, but I'd say pretty good. They've increased the number of clinical offerings and next year they are launching a DC externship program, which I think will have a positive impact on the rankings. Wake fell off in the rankings when the new dean got here (just because of uncertainty and what not), but he has a lot of good ideas which are slowly being put into play.
