I could be wrong, but I think I remember reading from last year's thread that they use the open house as a way to get to know you beyond your application and numbers, and then based off that, they decide who to give additional money to. I know last year tchadwick received a study abroad award based off the Scholar's Open House (http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... &start=350 - little more than half way down), but I don't know if they're doing awards other than the Fletcher scholarship.

Door prizes! Awesome, j/k.

I don't know to be honest. I think I was the one who posted about the paid study abroad, but I don't know if they were given them at Scholars Open House, just that they had them. Call and ask if you would be missing out if you waited to attend.

Edit: Looked through last years thread and some people did indeed get these. One guy got a study abroad from scholars open house (it was awarded weeks later but he said it came from the scholars open house competition?) and another one guy got a 3/4 scholarship after visiting (not sure if this was Scholars open or ASD).
Audibly chuckled at that. I actually just looked at the dates for the later ones and it turns out they are worse for me, so I'll be there on the 5th with expectations of fantastic food and door prizes.
Yeah, another person going on the 5th! I'll see you there.

Where is the info for ASDs?

Wake never gave me a login for status checker even after i emailed them, although the scholly more than makes up for that

is there an admitted students site?

Here's the Admitted Student Site - http://welcome.law.wfu.edu/

That has the dates for the ASD's. Your scholarship letter has the dates for the Scholar's Open House.

I really wish I could go to the Scholars Open House, but I'm in Mexico :( I'm very pleased with the scholarship offer I received from Wake, but just a bit more would certainly convince me to attend. Maybe I'll shoot them an email and see if there's anything I can do to increase my scholarship.

does anyone know if there is a Yelp! page or something similar for Wake Law?

Lewis & Clark, for instance, has one... and although there is only one post, its really informative and helpful.

Hopefully the answer is yes, it would really great tool to get some insight

Open House Competition? And what exactly would that entail?

Count me in for the 5th.

Thanks for the encouragement :) It is only January, after all.

Any one have any idea or guess when scholarships come out for second wave of applicants?

I want to know if I got a scholarship sooo bad... for me this is almost as bad as waiting for LSAT score.

The first round of acceptances received scholarship notification about 3 weeks after we were accepted. So, my guess is that they'll try to notify you within a few weeks of your acceptance if you've received a scholarship. But that is just a guess and I have nothing to support that. Hopefully it won't be too long for you. :-)

Me too (3.0x/169) admitted 12/18 - I'm still hoping, but not ready to make any calls just yet. If another round of scholarships come out to students accepted later I might give Ms. Nutt a call just to see.

I would call, you don't want to wait so long that the money is already budgeted out. Or maybe they are considered you for a full scholly, I don't think they have handed any of those out yet.

164/3.4 here and got $18k as well

18k means another 18k of out-of-pocket. comparing that to $5k (or less) out of pocket at USC or UGA and Wake doesn't content IMO...

thoughts?

I though 18k meant 13k out of pocket? is tuition not ~31000?

Tuition $35,450
University technology fee 400
Health fee* 316
Charges billed by WFU $36,166

That was just their initial offer. You may get one of the full rides they have yet to hand out, they haven't done need based, and if you fall below a certain rank you still get to keep a portion of your scholly. But for a 15k difference I would probably choose one of the other schools you mentioned.

Hopefully UGA sends out their scholarship offers soon.

Yes, that is correct. They are usually pretty good about responding, but I'm sure they are really busy.
