$28,000/ year!
That's a lot of money. This just made my decision between Wake and UNC a bit harder..

1) just ask your profs if they can make an exception since you are obviously not just ditching. but be ready to answer why youve already used up all of your absences.PirateCap'n wrote:This might be a stupid question, but are all of you folks (the ones still in undergrad anyway) skipping school to attend the open houses (for WFU and other schools)? It's really annoying that they're almost all held on a weekday. If I attended all of the open houses, I would fail my classes based on nothing more than exceeding the allowed absences. If you are skipping, are you getting excused absences or what? Is there some methodology to it, or do you just have lots of days where your school isn't in session?
2) that sucks if you have a campus-wide policy regarding absences
3) i will likely have to miss a day of work & pay if i go to one of the Week Day open houses, but will more likely have to devote a weekend does anyone know anything regarding their weekend tours and staff availability? Does anyone know what WF considers 'need based' for travel stipends?

28,000 here as well. Got the email on my phone during class. I think my facial expression must have been pretty funny because the prof actually asked me what was wrong. haha

Re: Wake Forest 2010
I'm fairly sure I'll probably go. With the scholarship, it makes Wake about $25,000 cheaper over the 3 years, even with in-state tuition at UNC (based on total cost of attendance that I determined based on my own research, including covering summer costs). (My figures for UNC are higher than their proposed COL, but I know what I'll need to spend, and don't want a roommate since I haven't had one since 2005.)

Wake is high on my list, even more so now. And my wife likes the idea of NC best.
But I'm still waiting on 14 schools to respond, so I can't say for sure yet.

Re: Wake Forest 2010
Last year there was someone with my numbers and they got $20k, so that is what I was expecting. So, I am more than thrilled with $25k. Now, I just need to make sure I'm in the top 2/3 of the class! So, basically, we just have to do better than just 1/3 of the class? Or am I understanding that wrong?ntzsch wrote:tstyler98 wrote:$25,000 here! So excited. +1 same, on all counts basically.

Re: Wake Forest 2010
I got $18,000!!! SOOOO unexpected! Only problem is that it makes UGA and Wake almost exact matches when it comes to tuition.... so now what do I do??? (This is because I would pay $30k the first year at UGA for out of state and then $15k for the 2nd and 3rd years for instate).

Congrats to everyone who got scholarships today!! I've always heard that Wake was generous with $$, but some of the amounts were very surprising! You guys are lucky folks
Do you all think they'll give out any other scholarships? I'm seriously considering Wake, but the $$ factor is really holding me back. It'd probably become my new #1 (over UNC) if I got any money from them. I'm 163/3.74 (in-state in NC, too), do you think I have a chance?

Re: Wake Forest 2010
I definitely think you have a chance. I have a 3.7/164 and got $25k (and in NC too). I think the money given out now is just to those accepted 12/18, and there will be other rounds to come. Plus, once April 1st comes (the deposit deadline for those with scholarships) and people turn down their admission and scholarship, Wake will have other money to give out.mytwocents wrote:Congrats to everyone who got scholarships today!! HELP .....
How would you compare attending Wake over FSU. Wake is only 10 spots higher in the USNR but users make it sound as if they are not even peer schools. What do you think, is it wort paying 8000 more for Wake?
I don't care much for the location as long as it is southern.

Re: Wake Forest 2010
I don't know enough about FSU, so I can't speak specifically for it. But, for only a $8,000 difference, I think you should go wherever is best for you. You need to figure out what is important to you, no matter what it is, and then look at each school to decide which school fits you best. Sorry I can't help more than that.Redelicious wrote:HELP .....

The only question you need to ask yourself is "where do you want to practice"?Redelicious wrote:HELP .....

It will be tough to find a job in FL with a WF jd and vice versa.

Congrats to all the scholarship recipients!! They did a good job exceeding my expectations! After seeing last years LSN, I thought I'd be lucky to get 20,000/year.
But no, they had to seduce me with 28,000/year. Why Wake, why? You know I am weak..

Congrats everyone!
Did anyone who got the admitted scholar update not get a scholarship offer today?
Also, I noticed no full scholarships yet. Do these tend to come out later, when Wake has looked at most of its applications (not to suggest I'm actually expecting one of these, a boy can dream though)?

Looking at people from last year it seems they tend to add to the scholarships as time goes on.Geist13 wrote:Congrats everyone!
