shit. now i want harvard more.tomhobbes wrote:Somebody want to clear this up for me?
I just started looking into Harvard's LIPP and it looks like, unlike all the other schools I could find, people who get their PhD right after law school are eligible for it. This is the link: http://www.law.harvard.edu/current/sfs/ ... s/phd.html
The confusing part is that it just seems too good to be true. Basically, if it takes you seven years to get your PhD, Harvard will treat that like seven years of working at a very low-paying job, and cover all of your loan payments during that time? Someone who's pursuing their own selfish interests (in my case, possibly getting a Philosophy PhD) gets as much money as someone who becomes a public defender?
I wanted to get my PhD anyway, but this makes it seem like it's a free $70k or something. Or more.

Re: In at Harvard!
I just received the physical acceptance packet--a letter from the admissions office, shortened version of the binder (although for some reason the one you can hold and flip through seems nicer, even though it has less info), and the forms you need to send in to deposit/defer/etc. Very cool.
I'm relatively close to Boston so other admits should be getting theirs soon. Hurrah!

Lysis,
In your acceptance packet, is there any rhyme or reason to the admitted students webpage username/password?
I should be getting the packet in a few days, but for personal reasons, I need to get some information from the e-binder as soon as possible. The e-mail has just been jdoe.jd13 and your LSAC number, but I haven't been able to get into any of the post admissions stuff thus far.
Thanks!

I've been able to access all of the post-admissions stuff... however, sometimes certain things don't work or I have to input my password more than once.vyboxvybox wrote:Lysis,

The above are correct. I was able to access everything online before today. It's the same username/password as the email.

Just got the packet too! It's so nice!!
I can't go to either of the admitted students weekends. Boo. I'll have to make my way there over spring break, I guess.

HLS in big block letters within an oval shape, with Harvard Law School in smaller print along the bottom edge.sfdreaming09 wrote:I know me too! This is awesome - ATL is reporting that HLS faculty voted to dump mandatory Low Passes in their classes. Previously, they had to hand out at least 8% LPs, but now it will be left to the discretion of faculty, which probably means that only Grade-A assholes and no-shows are at risk.

Definitely cool, makes it even more likely that I'll choose Harvard and throw everything else out the window...soullesswonder wrote:This is awesome - ATL is reporting that HLS faculty voted to dump mandatory Low Passes in their classes. He also crossed out my full name and wrote in my nickname, which I thought was a cute touch.
Oh Harvard, I'm so infatuated, I can almost forgive you for canceling PSI...

makes me think of all people on the Harvard thread talking about how JR seemed "distracted" during JR1's. He was writing all those little handwritten notes... the guy's gotta multitask!
& in case those people are looking at this thread: that's not a bad thing, I think he might have been redecorating his office during mine
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
