Emory 2009-2010 Application Cycle

Post by annabell » Mon Nov 23, 2009 11:09 am

Noticed that Emory is basically the only top 20 school without a thread so I figured I would start one.

I submitted a few weeks ago and haven't gotten a complete. Anyone else in the same boat?

I submitted 10/16 and received an "Application Received" e-mail on Oct 30 stating that my application had been received, but not confirmed complete and that I would get another e-mail once it was complete. I have not heard from them since.

I submitted 10/26 and got an e-mail stating my application had been received 10/30. I have not received the promised fp e-mail stating my app is complete. I remember looking at the acceptance thread from last year, they don't do status checkers and I don't think they send out any admits until end of Dec./beginning of January. Suuuuuucks.

I submitted in early October and received an "Emory University School of Law-File Complete" email on 10/20. The email stated that applications will be reviewed starting 12/26.

Yeah I received the "application is complete" email on October 10th. Haven't heard a word from them otherwise. I was talking to someone I know who goes there and he said if you're in a class that uses socratic method and you're called on but don't know the answer, you can just say "pass" and the professor has to go on to someone else. No hour long humiliation. Crazy!

I have not gotten a complete email yet.

They start reviewing files the day after Christmas? I would rather wait a day to hear my admissions decision so the admissions staff could spend an extra day with their families.

Also got the complete email today, after several weeks. Emory seems to be less open about the process than most schools, but I don't see this as a bad thing, because obsessively status checking is not exactly healthy.

Last cycle decisions rolled out starting mid/late December to mid January. Scholarships usually out mid to late February.

Don't worry, I applied 10/10 last cycle, didn't get an confirmation email until december and didn't get in till late march. To say they take their time here is an understatement.

So do you guys think they will stick to the claim that the first decisions will come after the new year, or will we hear before Christmas like years past?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
