I'm debating scheduling my own independent trip instead of ASD, i feel like I'm looking for more of a sample of the actual school experience over a choreographed all day extravaganza.
Something to be said for doing both if you can afford the time and cost. I figure a regular visit will give me more of the campus feel. And ASD will also allow me to meet some of my classmates.
I decided to go for an individual visit and lurk in classes because I thought it would give me a more authentic experience (what with real classes and not mock classes). Besides, I got to talk to all the students and deans by myself, without having to share them!
If I lived in the area and could drive, I would drive on over for ASD, but alas, that is not the case. Sounds like it'll be a grand time, and possibly informative as well. Sure, it would be nice to meet the other kids, but I'll see all y'all in the fall, and for those who don't end up enrolling, I don't care about you guys anyway.
Honestly, though, I wasn't visiting UCI to see if it was a place I wanted to go to. I already knew I wanted to go there, but that estimation was based upon a lot of stuff on paper. The visit was just to confirm what I already thought about the school, and I certainly wasn't let down.
