Really? He actually said that? Apparently last year the administration was pretty hush-hush about revealing too much info about the profile of the entering class at this point in the admissions process.
Yes he did. Hope I didn't say too much myself.
Nah, he wouldn't have told you if it was meant to be confidential.

It's very true that the numbers are only the "admitted' numbers and obviously not the matriculating numbers, but Irvine will continue to have a ridiculous yield rate (though not as ridiculous as that of last year). The numbers can't be too far off.

UCI 1L here. I wanted to reply to a few questions/comments from this board.

First, yes there are clinics in the works! Next year we'll be launching an environmental law clinic. I know there are others planned, but they are still TBD. We've been in the process of recruiting a director for the enviro. law clinic and the candidates are great! UCI values experiential learning and a big part of this process will be required clinical work. With that said, we won't all have to do environmental law. There will be other options too.
Thanks so much for answering my question about the clinics - it's great to hear that the environmental clinic is in the works and I'm looking forward to hearing what other types of clinics will be implemented in the future. I am very interested in law schools with strong clinical programs, and with its public interest focus, I am looking forward to seeing what UCI has to offer.

The admitted stats don't matter, since it's the enrolled stats that count. It remains to be seen where their medians end up, since they're only giving out half tuition this year. I think they'll still end up being competitive with T20 schools, though.
QFT. Except I think the medians will be lower than last year's.
I would think it would be higher. 50% discount is still a significant factor, and considering that last year's median was so successful, it's even more ensuring for the 2nd class. Other than 50% more tuition, the 2nd class gets the same privilege as the inaugural class and more.

Sandy: My LSAT is very low, I'm a non-URM, and don't have tons of WE :? The fact that their acceptance medians are higher than last year's worries me, esp. since my GPA isn't quite high enough to offset my LSAT score (imo, anyway). I'm hoping for a miracle, though :D

Gymboree: thank you! and I think I've seen veritas pop in here and there on other threads. I think he may be taking the hard-to-get approach with Dean Ortiz

No choice yet - still in the Kubler-Ross 7 stages of celebration. :D For how long we wait for these decisions, I want to give myself the time to relish in the choice.

congrats! i'm guessing UCInetID is their login for their admitted students on their website? this is just an assumption though.

congrats again!

Oo, I'm jealous - sometimes I dream that I'm checking TLS (THAT'S when you know you're obsessed). And congrats on making your decision. See you in sunny California!

Btw, for current 1Ls, how do you like your mentorship program? That's one thing Mr. Ponciano elaborated on during my visit that really interested me because other law schools don't seem to make as much use of it as UCI does. If you guys don't mind, could you give some personal examples (what field of law your mentor is in, if it aligns with your interests, what kinds of things you do/talk about with them) and just kind of an overview of how it works? You can also PM. :D Thank you!

I applied at the deadline - and some of you guys have been stressing for a quite a long time (read all 28 pages). I'd probably go to Irvine if I got in - half tuition and being able to commute are pluses for me. 3.4 (UCLA UG), 169. My only other acceptance so far is GW.
Good luck to everyone here.

Good luck, given your LSAT it is a very strong application.

also from my own experience, early or late you applied is not a very big issue.

Hey Guys,

I was admitted to UCI, and I am interested in visiting for their admitted students day. I am heading from the NYC area (Most likely Newark airport). In the admitted students package, they list a few hotels that are like $100 a night. That seems like a whole lot of money. Is anyone interested in splitting a hotel room, and the cab fare? I will only need to stay there over Thursday night, and then I plan to head to LA with a friend (I'm sure we could give you a ride if you would like one). I am a normal person and not a murderer. I am a guy. PM me if you want to work out the details. I am looking to book my flight this week.

I won't be going to ASD ... since I'll be visiting tomorrow. PM me if you want to be name dropped =D

The SNA Hilton is a good bet, and it was $99/night, which is less than the price quoted by UCI. Just call and say you're coming for a meeting, and they'll give you the corporate code. Included wifi and parking ($12.95 and $14.95, respectively).

P.S. aren't hotels like $400 a night in NYC?

lobstar, report back after your visit please! Can't make it out there before ASD, so I'd love to hear more about what it's like on a non-planned day.

Thanks for the info. Anything I can save would be really helpful. Hotels are expensive in NYC, but thankfully I have never had to stay in one.

All I need is a place to sleep, I don't care about amenities.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
