Yeah, I climb! We should take some trips outside of Pittsburgh sometime. Are you talking about the Pitt climbing wall or the bouldering gym in Shady Side?
Yes, I love finding fellow climbers! I hate going into gyms not knowing anyone... it's always super awkward asking randoms to belay you. I'm talking about the gym near Shadyside. Is it in Shadyside? I know it's on Penn Ave. near Baker Square. Is it just bouldering? I only top rope and lead. I tore both my ACLs bouldering, so that's out for me. I am SO excited to be only 2 hours (I think) from New River Gorge in WV. That'll make for some awesome trips. I also saw a lot of places like an hour or 2 from Pitt on rockclimbing.com. I loooove exploring new climbing areas!

I'm looking for a workout buddy--mainly someone to be accountable to. Anyone interested? I run, swim, and do yoga. I am interested in trying out a spin class and exploring rock climbing (I've done it a few times) . I would be happy to have someone join me for one or all of these activities. I am not hardcore about any of these, although I did swim competitively in high school. My swim workout, when I do go, is the equivalent of what an "easy" day would have been, about a 2000.

I'd be interested in spinning.

Glad to hear there are a couple people interested in rock climbing. I volunteer as an instructor at my local gym, so if anyone's interested in learning or working on technique, I'd love to go with you.

Nice. I've done orienteering once, but that was about 7-8 years ago.

I played a ton of ultimate frisbee in college, though in the last 2 years, I have only played once.

edit:
I like the idea of getting to know the TLS Pitt folks before school starts. I vote we do a TLS Pitt 2013 group on FB to differentiate who we are from the regular one.

Awesome. Sounds like we should get a group together for rock climbing. My best friend goes all the time and keeps telling me about these amazing climbs in Kentucky and West Virginia.

+1 on the facebook group

Cool article, although any list that has Lincoln, Neb and Provo, Utah in their top 10 is suspect.

Anyway thanks for giving some tips guys. I'm taking a trip up to Pitt next week to tour and right now I'm strongly leaning towards Pitt Law.

Does Pitt offer reasonably priced yoga lessons? They offer them at my UG's rec center for $50 a semester (a steal!). I know there's a decent yoga place on Murray Ave in Sq. Hill, but I can't imagine it's as cheap as a school would offer it.

So I've decided to fly out to Pittsburgh to check out the law school before I have to make my decision. A few more questions:

How troublesome is it to have a hotel near the airport when touring the university region (cab fare, etc)?
Any good sushi joints (all u can eat preferred)?
Sports bar with cheap beer near the DT?

1) The airport is outside the city. Not sure about hotels there, but there is a shuttle from the airport to the Pitt campus for less than $2. (you need exact change though)

2) Chaya on Murray Ave in Sq Hill (5 minutes from campus) is considered one of the best sushi places in the city. I've eaten there once and it isn't cheap nor all you can eat, but damn it was good. I've been to an all you can eat place in Monroeville for $20 but I forget what it was called. It was tasty as well.

Take the 28X city bus, it takes you right into Oakland and goes right by the law school.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
