Congrats! Not that you had anything to worry about with those numbers.blhoward2 wrote:In by e-mail 12/23...168/3.92.
Did anyone else receive the Christmas card signed by the admissions staff? It was very nice of them, although I really hope I wasn't the only one. That would be kind of creepy.

Yes, there wasn't anything of substance but it still put a smile on my face. It's nice to know that the school is willing to make an effort to court you even if only with a small gesture.badwithpseudonyms wrote:Congrats! I got it the day after I received my acceptance letter. I was hoping for another gold bookmark. No dice.badwithpseudonyms wrote:Congrats! Not that you had anything to worry about with those numbers.blhoward2 wrote:In by e-mail 12/23...168/3.92.

I just got the acceptance letter today (and the gold clip). They gave me the standard Dean's scholarship, which covers about half of the annual tuition. I haven't heard a word from them since I sent my application back in October, which is kind of weird.

Congrats! Looks like you should throw out a few apps to higher ranked schools because right now you are batting a thousand! Pitt is weird with pre-acceptance communication. The "under review" emails were pretty haphazard, but I've got at least three emails from them this week and a lovely holiday card (mentioned above).bklyngreenlp wrote:I just got the acceptance letter today (and the gold clip). Part of me is definitely wondering if maybe I should have reached higher and applied to better ranked schools.

Re: Pitt 2010
Thanks, bwp. I am quite surprised and pleased with some of my acceptances. I’m still waiting on bklyn, although their office sent me an email to clarify a piece of information in my application. I have an impressive CV, which I think helps with my lack of an outstanding LSAT score. I might apply to a few more schools, but as an older applicant, I have a number of considerations (mortgage, family, work, etc.) and so I’m trying to minimize my debt load. We’ll see…badwithpseudonyms wrote:Congrats! Looks like you should throw out a few apps to higher ranked schools because right now you are batting a thousand! Pitt is just a strange place, altogether. Congratulations on BU and WUSTL. What in the world are you still doing on the Pitt thread? Good luck with your remaining applications, too.

Re: Pitt 2010
I figured with your non-trad status that debt and all those other fun things in life that keep us busy outside of the law school obsessing on TLS were probably behind your decision of where to apply. I was fortunate to get a fee waiver from LSAC, so I could afford to throw out all those hail marys. It might still be worth your time to try a few more schools. You never know.bklyngreenlp wrote:Thanks, bwp. I am quite surprised and pleased with some of my acceptances. And thanks, I'm pretty happy with my cycle. But even though I've got some nice offers (sorta surprised by the $$ at BU), I'm a Western PA kid. Grew up here, went to ug here, and pretty much all my friends and family are here. So Pitt at $12k is hard to say no to. (Non-trads aren't the only ones with those pesky things like family and debt )

Not worried about job prospects after graduating, badwithpseudonyms?

Re: Pitt 2010
Yes and no. I'm not entirely sold on biglaw being the only thing I want to pursue after graduation... at the very least I'm open to other alternatives. Hell, I like public interest stuff, just not sure if I want to make a career out of it. The good thing about being poor is that I don't need a $160k salary to support my lifestyle. And with Pitt (hopefully) being less than $10k/yr when all is said and done, I definitely don't need a biglaw salary. Pitt has a lot of things going for it that compensate (to an extent) for its smaller market size. (e.g. friends, family, more professional relationships) And regardless of where I end for school, I intend to work as hard as I can and hopefully this will land me somewhere in my class where I will have good prospects (even if only in that particular market, as is the case with Pitt).burvowski wrote:Not worried about job prospects after graduating, badwithpseudonyms?
One more thing too: If I was "T14 or bust", I kind of shot myself in the foot with that 166. The schools I'm in right now aren't truly "national" and even if they were, ITE the median at these schools (and better) are having trouble landing jobs. I don't know where I'll end up yet, and if UM/Duke/UVA let me in I might have to reconsider my priorities, but right now the (cheaper) devil I know looks pretty good.

Yeah, I'm with you. Being able to graduate from Pitt with little to no debt is very hard to pass up, especially when you factor in how cool of a city it is. I'm waiting on Cardozo, but the living expenses of NYC really put me off, so unless I somehow fluke and get a decent amount of $$ from them, it looks like it's going to be Pitt for me.

I have decided that I will, indeed, attend Pitt. I'll be the very good looking guy sitting in the front of every class with my hand up all the time.
See you there

What's your reason for being so dead set on moving to Pennsylvania, if you don't mind my asking?Bruin2009 wrote:i want an acceptance why do they take so long?
