Also, those 3L who are at the median are more likely to be unemploy upon graduation than not (at least for this year). And the focus of how UW market itself revolves around its clinics and its influence on the state government.
I dunno about median not being employed, the majority of students I talked to had jobs lined up. But to be fair I didn't pry into what they paid or anything like that, so it's hard to tell. And tbf, almost nobody gets paid employment during your 1L year, so clinics imo are a much better option than an unpaid internship or summer program. Although that kind of flips around during second year summer. I also liked the flexibility you have after your first year, in regards to time to graduate and options, etc. If you find a sweet winter internship or gig, there are absolutely no issues with just sitting out a semester or just doing class part time.

I'm going to be living on Bassett next year with both of my roommates from this year...close to the capitol, nice neighborhood and it's not far from State Street. If you scour CL, you can definitely find some nice apartments at great prices.

Fwiw, I've lived in Vilas all year and have loved it. You really can't beat living just three blocks from the zoo.

hey everyone,

although i'm still on the WL, my best friend's parents are landlords in Madison.

I was asked to post on the site, in her apartment complex they have some singles available for $520 a month. They ONLY rent to grad students and its in a super quiet area about 15-20 min walking from the law school.

PM me if you want more details, i can give you her contact info.

I don't know about 3Ls, but I think you're a bit wrong on our clincicals. 1) it's a 2500 stipend PLUS credits PLUS tuition remission for credits 2) Clinicals provide better job experience than 9 out of 10 1L summer positions.

I'm not saying this as a 1L in a clinical, I'm saying this as a 1L who is pissed that he didn't get into the clinicals.

That said, of the 1 and 2Ls that I know, there is generally some employment. Most people aren't working in their first or second choice, but by this stage most people have lined something up for the summer.

Again, unless you get into a T14, Wisconsin is probably one of your best bets for employment due to location, academic reputation and diploma privilege.

If you plan on attending next year make sure to start working out for Dean's Cup now.

I am not surprised at all that you got in, those are good numbers for UW they were simply waiting to make sure you would attend. Thus you were accepted right after sending in your LOCI. Either way CONGRATS! I wish I was off the wait list. Show me some love Madison come on!

Two-time state champs baseball player here, two sport all-area in HS. Can't wait to kick around some poor med students...

And yes panda, we definitely talked at some point, from what I read in your profile. :D You said you were debating between George Mason and UW?

I'm still looking at going in on an apartment if anyone's interested. I'd much prefer to find random 1L's to share an apartment with than random undergrads. I'm an ok guy, I swear.

So i've written a LOCI, visited, and i'm still on the WL.

Anyone hear anymore info? Anyone else still on the WL?

I feel like its a numbers game still, even with an LOCI...ALthough my numbers fall within range, they are right below UW's avg.....so does that mean i'm almost certainly stuck on the WL?

i need a UW WL support group!

I too am on the WL. I sent my LOCI about three weeks ago. I am hoping that this week will bring news, I really just need closure.

I also need a support group! I am starting to feel like I have no chance! It really is seeming like quite the numbers game. Like the other posters, I have sent in a LOCI (actually two) and I also visited the law school. I am really hoping that come May we will hear something back. I think May will probably be when we hear back because I think the people that requested an extension have to respond in May sometime.

I've been searching for weeks, but not easy..
I wish I can find the right one during my visit.
