So I'm curious to hear where all you attendees have decided to live next year. Studying here for undergrad for 4 years, I assumed I would be a guru at figuring out a living situation for next year. Alas, it has not been the case at all; turns out I'm really only familiar with undergrad spots (shocker!) and I become increasingly oblivious to options as you reach out from those areas.

So are you finding yourselves out closer to the capitol? Sticking with the primarily undergrad-filled high-rises that are much closer to the law building? Flats? Apartments? Condos?

*Just wonderin'*

I want to move into the nicer apartments right near the law building, although they seem to be very booked already. I'm not having luck finding roommates or anything, and there aren't very many singles still available in this area. I wanted to be within walking distance even in the worst of weather. And the location there seems to be within walking distance of everything important.

I live in a condo up by the capitol and I LOVE IT. We have a crazy mix of people- grad students, young professionals, families with kids, doctors, and retirees. The location is perfect and the building is very quiet (we are probably the loudest people in the building :) ). It is new construction and there are still unsold units. They are also renting out some of the condos because of the real estate market right now...

If anyone wants to come see the building or get the name/website for it PM me. Also, I don't want to jinx myself but if I don't get off the UW WL I will be renting my place out this fall.

Oh yeah, the building is dog friendly too if you are coming with fido.

Well, my LOCI is finally off. My cycle is so full of waitlists and hold lists and pendings right now that I don't know what to think.

So is monday the 19th the day that everyone who is accepted has to make a decision? I have heard a few people say that I just wanted it verified.

I really wish I knew how many more people were coming off of the waitlist. It would help kind of address my hopes, maybe tone them down a little. Coug, if you want it you should let them know in a big way.

I'm a rising 3L at Wisconsin law. I read something about apartments, and thought I'd give you heads up about my place, which is available for sublease starting June 1st, with the option to renew the lease for a full year starting August 1st. I love the place, but will be studying abroad in the fall. It's a 1BR, close to the UW Campus and near the Capitol:

But now that we got the advertisement out of the way, damn I'm glad Wisconsin jumped to 28! Word hasn't gotten out yet around the law school, but I'm sure people will be excited once word gets out.

If you guys are coming to the ASW this week, make sure to check out the after party at Fresco's following the LEO banquet Saturday night. People should be out there by 10pm. Here is a link to the facebook events page:

Whats the attire for the ASW? Is the dinner Friday night more formal than Saturday or vice versa?

well damn..... wasn't planning on bringing a suit, lol

When I spoke to Dean Hall he told me they were expecting about 300-350 people on the waitlist. He also told me that they were probably going to end up taking about 100 people off the wait list and admit them. He told me that back in mid March so I have no idea if that still holds true because it seems like there is a TON of people on the wait list.

Hey all, just wanted to drop in and say hi. Like Katz I'm a deferral from last year, living in Madison. I'm planning on going to the Admitted Students dealio this weekend. Just got the "homework" today for the mock class - yay. Anyways, I look forward to hopefully meeting and/or imbibing with some of you this weekend. I'll try to check in on this and the other UW threads more often to lend some of my limited knowledge about this fine town!

So what do u recommend?

Depends on what you're looking for--for a burger, Dotty's is the best in Madison, maybe the country. Some may argue, but it's absolutely phenomenal. Buraka is great for Ethiopian food, Ian's for pizza...if you're hammered.

Bars...I'm a huge proponent of The Old Fashioned, Cooper's and The Great Dane, all around the Capitol. The Dane is a brewpub and the atmosphere is pretty cool.

The dane has a cool atmosphere, but their beer is sub-par imo.

I completely agree with that. The only outstanding beer (and keep in mind, I'm a total snob) I've had from them was the Tri-Pepper Pilsener, which is not for the faint of heart and is hardly ever available. The rest are just decent.

I'd be at ASW but I'm going to be at the Farmers' Market for a few hours in the morning and then it's off to a fun little "Bike and Brew" tour I'm setting up with a couple of my friends. No, we won't get [too] drunk.

Congrats to those who got in off the WL!

It gives those of us still on the WL a glimmer of hope. :D

Up to you, man, but there's a huge difference between "checking something out to see what happens" and "experiencing it with soon-to-be-1Ls and meeting professors at a place where you are accepted."

As usual, NR dispenses with well-taken wisdom.

This is the kind of wisdom that helped give me the worst URM boost of all time.

 I have no idea what that means, but I'm going with it.

Tam and NR, neither of you are helping me make a decision so zip it!

I definitely have to work tomorrow but is there anything going on Sat/Sat. night?

I have the feeling that this was discussed somewhere in the thread, but I am hesitant to look through almost 40 pages to find out - is there any possibility of a non-resident getting resident tuition their second and third years?
