I got the WL email too. Well I guess I was begging to hear something back from them after over 11 weeks of limbo, but I was hoping for better news. I am still excited about attending DePaul, but I will ride out the list for a while...

NOOOOOooooo I'm sorry man. And you were so patient too. Write them a kick ass letter since it seems like you really want to go there and I bet you will get off of it.

Anyone have an idea of how many peeps get put on the waitlist? For those on the list (myself included) remember that you could have been just been rejected and at least we still have a chance.

from what i know about previous years, it is extremely possible to get off the waitlist if you show sincere interest (not just, "hey i'm still interested in possibly coming to wisconsin, so let me know and maybe i'll let you know")

FWIW, I called yesterday and was told that I could expect a decision within 10 weeks of my complete date. That date...2/22. Is this for real? Would they possibly wait until May to notify?

As far as I can tell, the person that answers the phone is not someone on the admissions committee and they just make up numbers. I had been told 4-6 weeks, 6-8 weeks, and 8-10 weeks as I waited to hear back (it took 11 weeks and 2 days to get waitlisted).

Been complete now for 5 weeks and 3 days. I guess I'll calm down a bit now.

Just set up a tour/visit for next week as well as a chance to sit down with Dean Hall. Hopefully I will be able to convey my desire to attend better in person. Think I should bring a nice present for him, or just start off begging on my knees?

Good luck to everyone else!

When did you get the WL if you don't mind me asking?

I sent the LOCI before the decision, hoping to secure a WL spot. Fail.

Fine wine sounds like a good [strike]bribe[/strike] gift. I bet he would love a good bottle of Mouton-Rothschild 1945 Red Bordeaux. :D

What day is your tour?

I'm sorry :(
That is really disheartening, but hopefully things work out for you in the end. Good luck with the rest of you cycle!

Maybe they liked something about your profile than mine and there is an acceptance coming. Think positive!

Got the acceptance email today! Not sure if I'll attend. What cities do they place well into?

What can a person do after writing a kick ass letter?

visit if you can, then wait, maybe send another letter stressing your desire to attend.

worked for me.

i'm just saying, a WL from UW doesn't seem to be like the WL you get from other schools. Wisc seems to use the WL as a soft accept in some situations.

Hmmm can't visit since I am so far away. If I'm not on the first wave of acceptances I guess I will send an email restating my need to go there.

Soo.... if I were to tell Wisconsin that I'm enrolling full-time so that I don't miss out on a scholarship, would it be too late to back out in half a month if I need to? This isn't binding or anything yet, is it?

i think it'd be appropriate to call them and ask them.

they take you on your word about whether or not you're attending, it'd be in bad taste to commit and then decommit. I'm pretty sure there is an option for "unsure". i understand your position, but you should call them and ask if that's part of the criteria to get money (which they don't exactly give out a lot of, from my understanding).

So I know UW doesn't have a seat deposit, but does anyone know when accepted applicants need to notify them if they are attending?

Just curious because I'm antzy to hopefully get off the WL...

They told me they needed to know by April 1, but that may have been because of the scholarship $. I withdrew yesterday, so good luck to you all!

4/19. It was originally 4/1 but they extended it. On 4/19, we also have the option of choosing "uncertain" and having until, I believe, 5/1.

??? If you put "unsure" in your decision then they keep your scholarship open until the Monday after their ASW.
