I'm feeling the same way. Everyday feels like "the day," but my inbox remains devoid of news from Wisconsin. Please just waitlist me already so I can send in this LOCI.

Ugh. Waitlisted. Whhhhhhy. Anywho, just sent the letter again. I sent it a few days ago but got no email confirmation so I just sent it again. Hope I don't piss them off. Though I understand that they probably are getting a ton of letters/withdrawls/acceptances through the email right now too. There is still hope!

In the letter I just talked about the two real reasons I wanted to go (clinic, and Madison) and told em if accepted then I would take the spot. Seems like they are a little harder on the URMs this year, though with my numbers I thought I would be pretty competitive.

So what's the consensus on sending a LOCI before they've reached a decision? I thought I was going to be in easy (3.1/168) but I just got waitlisted at Iowa, so now I'm nervous.

That's a lousy GPA. You're a splitter, splitters are unpredictable.

Duh dude. I'm not looking for boilerplate analysis of my cycle, I believe I had a question in there somewhere....

While not a consensus, I doubt a LOCI would hurt your chances. May not help, though.

In other news, Wisconsin's diploma privilege has lived to fight another day.

Dude, that GPA is lousy, as lousy as mine (also 3.1) .

Anyway, i think by visiting and/or sending in LOCI, you are showing initiative as well as interest. If you really want Wisconsin, get yourself a plane ticket to Madison and talk to Dean Hall.

Well this is comical. I took panda's advice and sent an e-mail this morning to schedule a visit to the school. Mere hours later, I get a waitlist e-mail from Dean Hall. Time to draft up a LOCI. I'm at least heartened by the success people here have been having with getting off the waitlist.

EDIT: Have you guys been sending LOCI's through e-mail or through post? Does it make a difference?

accepted and withdrawn. Bittersweet, but I moved on after my initial WL.

Good luck, all!

I did both, mentioned in e-mail that hard copy was forthcoming.

O shit I emailed mine! I don't think it makes a difference, but I sent mine like two days ago and still haven't gotten a confirmation email back.

If it makes you feel any better I never got a confirmation that they recieved my letter... I am not sure if they actually send out a confirmation or not. It seems sort of burdensome considering the number of letters they probably recieve on a daily basis not mention the fact that they have not gotten through all of the applications yet. At least I hope they don't normally send out confirmations... can anyone else speak to this?

As far as I know, UW does not send out a confirmation. I sent my LOCI in January and know they received it because I asked them when I visited later in the month. HTH.

A few weeks ago I updated an addendum and they confirmed in a day or two. Yes, much different than a LOCI but still piece of the puzzle.
