In thinking back, about the only positive I can look at is the fact that one of my letter of rec writers was a Wisconsin undergrad, but I didn't do a targeted letter.

Puzzling, to say the least.

In via email! So excited as Wisconsin is one of my top choices. Just went complete on 1/21, so I am impressed by the speediness.

167/3.7 for those who'd like to know.

Yay!

Waitlisted today via email, but I really want in!!! Any idea as to what percentage of people usually make it off? My app was complete mid-October.

I've been in review since 12/15, and re-took the LSAT in December. Does Wisconsin hold apps until the retake? If they didn't I'm perplexed since if they wanted to reject me, I'm sure they would have at least done it with this batch...

Thank you for answering! Do you by any chance know how long the process takes normally?

So I'm a little bit confused by UW's cycle...I see people above with better numbers than me (163, 3.3) who got dinged and I got accepted. I'm NOT posting this out of arrogance in any way, simply to give hope to people waiting...I'm an undergrad here in my senior year, so maybe the in-state factor helped.

Anyways, for those who've been accepted, what did you write for your scholarship "need/merit based" statement?

I am a little confused as well, and feeling a little bad about my happy post above - I should have read more of the thread first. While I am thrilled I got in, I am a bit perplexed. I took the Dec. LSAT and did not submit my app until the end of December, then went from complete to decision in 3 days while others who submitted their apps before me are in review, incomplete, etc. Maybe it is because I am out of state? All I can say is I hope everyone hears back soon!

I think Wisconsin does make certain exceptions for in-state students; still, I've been a little confused by a few of the decisions lately. Maybe they are receiving more apps above last year's median?

It is undoubtedly easier to get in if you are in-state.

they have a quota of 60% I think. That undoubtedly requires them to have slightly lower standards for WI residents.

60% seems unusually high, no? I live only an hour south of the border....close counts, right??

Thank god, because I don't know if I'd be able to make it in otherwise. I'm still counting on raising my LSAT score 2-3 points in February, but as of right now, I have an LSAT at median and qualify as in-state. I'm hoping that even if I am unable to raise my score in February, I still have a chance despite my GPA.

Any idea on when WL applicants start hearing from Wisconsin? (Assume LOCI, additional LOR, visit to school, etc.)

How long does it take to hear back for most applicants? If I applied mid-December, when do you predict I will hear back from UW-Madison?

EDIT: I went in review on 12/20

That is so odd. I submitted 12/7. My app was received 12/14, complete 12/15, and then in review 12/15 where it has been since. Clearly, we're not auto-admits but i think my numbers are very competitive for Wisc. That said, people w/ my numbers have gotten WL'ed and rejected...

Wisc. is very difficult to predict so I wouldn't say one way or the other for you...

FWIW, I was under review on 11/24 and didn't hear back until 1/11

I waited two months before I was accepted, so you might need to wait awhile.

They do do things quickly, sometimes, though.

I submitted on Dec. 16, went complete Dec 22., got my "under review" email at 10:30am on Dec. 23 and got my "admit" email at 12 noon the same day.

Yeah, I'm in state. My LSAT is well above the 75th and my GPA is a bit below the 25th. When I got the admit email I assumed that they jump instate people to the front of the line.

Median LSAT and GPA numbers, applied back in November but retook LSAT in December. "In Review" since 1/8. This would be a little less aggravating if I had heard back from ANY of my schools yet....

Complete 1/26 and In Review on the same day. How long do the apps normally stay "In Review"?
