I don't know if I should be happy, indifferent, or sad with the news that has come out now. I guess a waitlist beats rejection.

Re: Wisconsin 2010 Application Cycle
my accept/decline date was 1 month after the date i was accepted (it prompted me for April 19th rather than April 1st). I can't assure you it will be the same later in the cycle, but that's what it was for me.Snazzygirl wrote:Does anyone know how much the first deposit is? And how long does one have to accept/decline an offer off of the waitlist? Thanks - I couldn't find any of this info on the UW website (which actually has some amazing links).

Re: Wisconsin 2010 Application Cycle
Im in the same position. Ive been putting the loci off for the past two weeks for the exact reasons. This weekend im going to write one, and somehow come across that they are one of two of my top choices. How I exactly word it, I have no idea.JCougar wrote:Ugh. I'm struggling with my LOCI. Wisconsin is one of my top 4 choices, basically my 4 targets, but out of those 4, it's probably fourth. I don't know if it's even effective for me to write a LOCI unless you tell the school they are your top choice. I'm looking at WUSTL, UIUC, and Minnesota as well. The first two seem to have better career options, but I get in-state tuition at Wisconsin. I'm "hold listed" at WUSTL, waitlisted at UIUC, and I haven't heard anything from Minnesota yet, but I have the numbers to get into one, if not all of those places, plus probably get scholarships that somewhat even out the cost with Wisconsin.
One part of me wants to write a LOCI ASAP and get it in to Wisconsin, but I don't know how effective one would be if I just say, "you are one of my top choices," rather than "I will matriculate for sure if you admit me." The other part of me wants to wait a few more weeks to see how things pan out so I can write a more genuine LOCI if indeed, Wisconsin moves up on my list (due to not getting off waitlists).

WL'd recently with a 163/3.8 OOS. Still seriously considering the school, so I want to get that across. Sent something in the day after my WL.
I'd be less on the fence if Wisconsin were a little more generous with scholarships. Hard to bite the bullet on OOS sticker.

Boy oh Boy do I hope i get off the wait list at UW. I just received my estimated loans for the U of Iowa... 60k thats not kewl considering with the cost of living and everything I could go to UW for 90k for 3 years!!! Has there been any movement on the waitlist yet? Does anyone think there will be movement yet this week or do you think they wait until next week?

Re: Wisconsin 2010 Application Cycle
I just got some really good news my g/f of 6 years just got admitted to UW's MPA program. With this news and a few other awards (student commencement speaker, a huge leadership award, and another award only given to one graduating senior per semester) I have recently received would it be out of line for me to send another very brief LOCI to UW Madison to really express my interest in attending? Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated!

Re: Wisconsin 2010 Application Cycle
I would assume there will be more movement next week as the ASW is this weekend and people who go will either put down deposits or realize its not for them. Also, I think they have an offer acceptance deadline April 19th.

So nobody else going to be kicking it with me at ASW this weekend? Seems like it's going to be a small group coming.

Well, I won't be going to the actual event (unless I get off the WL this week) but I would be up for meeting you guys for a beer.Panther7 wrote:So nobody else going to be kicking it with me at ASW this weekend? Seems like it's going to be a small group coming.
On second thought, maybe I WILL show up to the ASW. It can be my George Costanza style strategy- just show up to everything and pretend like I got in ...
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
