I agree. I haven't gotten the same emails but similar ones and it is making Iowa seem like a pretty great choice.thepcv wrote:The alumni I've been in contact with are from different places than that (one is working in NYC and graduated in '97).tsub wrote:Is anyone else feeling the Iowa love? It feels like I get some kind of e-mail from them every couple of days. I got one from an alumni (one working in the Chicago area who graduated in '01, anyone else get the same e-mail?) and some e-mails from faculty.
It's just kind of nice to have some form of communication from a school, as opposed to the 10+ ones I haven't heard back from yet that I applied to in November.
Definitely feeling the love. And it's definitely placing Iowa at the top of my list right now (which, I'm sure, is the intended effect).

For those that received scholarships, how long did it take Iowa to notify you?theseus636 wrote:I'm interested in this, too. How long after acceptance do scholarships come out?robin600 wrote:Has anyone received a partial scholarship yet or is it just full rides still?

Re: U Iowa 2010 App Cycle
It took a couple of weeks. I was accepted 12/11 and received my scholarship on 01/02. I'm also not sure if they've sent out any partials yet, so that time frame may be a little different.Bikeflip wrote:For those that received scholarships, how long did it take Iowa to notify you?theseus636 wrote:I'm interested in this, too. There is a hold list already? I was informed that I was being placed under second review, but they have a separate hold group?mshflyer wrote:accepted off the hold list yesterday! first T30 acceptance! pretty much one of the best days ever.

Re: U Iowa 2010 App Cycle
So here I am trying to schedule a trip to Iowa City. . . and frustrated that it is 3 hours from a major airport. The Des Moines airport makes me wonder if I will really get to Iowa City when I plan to. I am not going ASW as I have another school at the same time. However I might be catching the reception of the ASW, but not the Friday festivities.
Anyone else frustrated with location relative to an airport?

You can get in state tuition for 2L and 3L by getting an RA position and from what I hear, they basically have those for OOSers.aschleic wrote:How is it super cheap - aren't you OOS? Tutition is still expensive, 35K+...

Re: U Iowa 2010 App Cycle
I don't think partial scholarships have been sent out yet. If you call the admissions office and ask if you have been nominated for a scholarship they will tell you. If you don't hear anything by March 15th, you have not received any scholly.
I will be driving to Iowa City from Michigan. I love long drives. I can't wait to get some good music on and drink a slurpee on the open road.
Has anyone else got the emails from the 1L and the graduate? I think that's pretty nice.
