Re: U Iowa 2010 App Cycle
Good work, those who go in!
Did you all write a separate PS for Iowa specifically answering their questions?
Or, will my "generic" PS w/ a "Why Iowa" addendum be alright?
OR, just general PS?

I think I only did 1 "Why x" essay, and that was because it was one of the optional essays ("Why Michigan"). I used my personal/optional statements to tell them more about myself, since I feel like most "Why X" essays are pretty similar. It was a risk I decided to take.

I submitted my application on the 12th of September, complete on the 24th of September. My status checker hasn't worked, so I haven't been able to check my status, but I got the status checker upon completion. Stats aren't even amazing... 163/3.84, and out-of-state.

If that was true, that would be pretty bad( and tricky) to use the school mascot of the rival school as part of my screen name.tamlyric wrote:I think CyLaw might be an Iowa adcomm rep. Haha.CyLaw wrote:Congrats. How does Iowa rate on your list of choices for schools?

In at Iowa via email from the Dean.
>75% LSAT; ~25% GPA
submitted 10/1
"In Progress" since 11/5
edit: to say I wrote a Why Iowa essay, never went complete, and OOS.

Congrats! Did you happen to get any sort of complete notification after getting ISIS? Also, in-state or out of state? :gymboree wrote:In at Iowa via email from the Dean.

I just got a "Good luck on the LSAT" email from Iowa... but I'm not taking the LSAT, and to my knowledge, am not registered to do so. ...Weird.

Should we not take their "62% increase in apps" seriously if they are predicting LSAT takes all over the place?

Re: U Iowa 2010 App Cycle
Does anyone know if Iowa is particularly splitter friendly? I can't really get a good impression from lawschoolnumbers.com because last cycle it doesn't look so hot, but the year before that it seems a bit more favorable to my situation.
I anticipate a >75% LSAT and have a 25%< GPA. (but I also have a Masters degree to help mitigate this...)
I've been out of UG for 5 years, have work experience and lot of good softs that I bring to the table. Iowa is quickly becoming my number one choice because I keep finding interesting opportunities on their website and it is 45 minutes away from my parents (in IL, not IA...I've lived in Boston the past 2 years and would really like to be closer...)

Re: U Iowa 2010 App Cycle
Not too sure about this either. Iowa is not very well represented on LSN. It seems like all the numbers are auto rejects or auto admits. Most of the people in between failed to update their profiles so it is highly unclear as to what one can predict. I am also not a believer in lawschoolpredictor.com, especially with Iowa who tends to look beyond pure numbers and doesn't just say they do like 90% of the other schools out there. They really seem to look at and appreciate applicants on a human level and this is what I really respect about them.academiccricket wrote:Does anyone know if Iowa is particularly splitter friendly? Re: U Iowa 2010 App Cycle
For a minute I panicked because I thought that perhaps in a drunken moment of frustration I signed up for the another crack at it and forgot. ...Wow. That would make for the worst cycle ever.superflush wrote:Me too.
