Hi All - another San Diegan checking in (first post) to the USD thread. Gotta do something to distract myself from the rain/hail (whine) and the looooong Chargers off-season.

Anyway, I got my acceptance letter for the PT program 12/20, but was never sent a packet. Is this normal?

It doesn't seem to be normal to me. You may want to call admission office.

I went complete on 01/20 and I just had a decision rendered today (01/22).

I'm in the Bay Area, so I should hopefully have the mail by early next week, and I'll report back on what it was. I have 75% GPA, about median LSAT, relatively strong softs, and I'm from San Diego...if that matters...

No, I didn't get an e-mail. I found out the old fashioned way: skirting work responsibilities and developing repetitive motion injury from obsessively checking the status of schools online.

+1 But on LSN besides a few pt'ers that got accepted early, the bulk got accepted/rejected/waitlisted all in March and April. So it looks like most of us will be waiting it out either way.

+1, except I don't remember when it went complete and I was 50% on GPA and LSAT. Here's to hoping for admit!

I know this isn't the "what are my chances forum," but I only applied to one school, USD, so thought I would ask here. I'm a little nervous because from a slight pattern I notice on LSN, splitters like me are made to wait a while for Decision Rendered, and if I have to wait, might as well wait with realistic expectations (or at least release some anxiety by posting on a USD Law forum). I went Complete 1/15.

Applied for Part Time.
GPA: 2.78, BA in Molecular Biology from UC Berkeley
LSAT: 170
No letters of recommendation.
Not much in the softs.

According the the admission prediction websites, my chances are good, but I really have no softs and didn't submit any LORs, whereas I assume most splitters submit the LORs. Am I riding the fence here?

i'd say you're in. i'll be surprised if not. You could probably get into full time pretty easily too, so don't be worried if you applied PT

If you could get some interest soft (job/volunteer/etc) and some letter writers...I feel like you might make a compelling case to get in somewhere better.

Heck, go get an MS in molecular bio, do well enough in grades, and get to know 2-3 professors really well. With that, you could write an addendum and say "although you don't consider graduate GPA, my performance in an intensive graduate program demonstrates my academic potential".

Also, you could specialize in an area where you could easily do patent litigation after law school.

Looks like Aid is being released, someone on LSN reported receiving something in the mail from them. Hopefully next week is a mix of acceptances and lots of money!
