I haven't gone complete yet, and I sent my app in the beginning of Jan. I emailed them and they said they were overwhelmed with apps. O well. Maybe the big box theory is right...

Re: U of San Diego Fall 2010
This makes sense. There was an article in the NYT recently about the increase in law school applications. Some schools are up 40-50% on the number of apps they've received. Just crazy.scolinos wrote:I haven't gone complete yet, and I sent my app in the beginning of Jan. I emailed them and they said they were overwhelmed with apps. O well. It does make sense, but many other schools are keeping their acts together.scolinos wrote:I haven't gone complete yet, and I sent my app in the beginning of Jan. I emailed them and they said they were overwhelmed with apps. O well. Maybe the big box theory is right...

Which brings us back to the big box theory.... (which is starting to sound dirty although I never meant it that way...)

Re: U of San Diego Fall 2010
They seemed to take forever to get my app complete (like 3 weeks), but they accepted me almost instantly once complete (a couple days after complete.) It was a little wierd that my last app to go complete was my first acceptance. Maybe they just never update their status checker.

if you aren't complete then I'd send an email, if you are complete still consider sending an email. Explain your situation, ask what's up.

IN!
Pretty excited, especially since my LSAT is a bit on the low side for USD. When I spoke to an admissions rep at a law fair, she said they would probably put my application off to the side for a while due to the low LSAT...yet I got an acceptance in November? Go figure I guess....
Here's hoping for another processing error and in turn, lots of merit money!!

I grew up in San Diego, and you definitely "need" a car. You can probably get by without it, but it's not something you'll at all want to do. Especially for entertainment/life, San Diego has cool places, but you have to drive to get to all of them.mbleak wrote:I actually know a few people who graduated this past year from USD law, and all of them had more than one job offer before they had graduated and passed the bar. The USD campus is absolutely gorgeous, and I don't think it's been below 70 degrees this entire semester.
The nightlife is also awesome out here. There are various places throughout the city that are fun to go on the weekends.
In terms of living costs, I currently live in a one bedroom apartment that costs 1265 a month. The two bedrooms in my complex are around 1500-1600. Most people I know who are sharing an apartment or house are paying between 600-900 dollars a month. Having a car is pretty important though, since the trolley doesn't run to campus. There is a bus that drops you off directly in front of campus, so you could potentially take the trolley and a bus to campus everyday.
Would you start a thread in "discuss your law school" about USD? I'm begrudgingly starting to consider USD despite having grown up not too far away.

+1 to the car. You might be able to make it around with a bike/trolley - but you have to be really well located to make that work.

+1 I wouldn't recommend anyone moving to SD without a car. While the trolley is extremely useful, you'll still need a car to get around. It's worth it to be accessible to all San Diego has to offer

Everyone who was accepted before January got the packet if they submitted Financial Aid already or not.
THE GOOD NEWS: Financial Aid lady said that they are sending out a large batch of scholarship letters this week or early next week.
THE BAD NEWS: Status checker does not tell you if one is sent to you, and scholarships are on a rolling basis, so there is no guarentee.

I was accepted with the first batch of decisions, so hopefully I'll hear something soon!
