Same here. I'm going to try to get the decision via phone! What do you guys think? Santa Clara over USD (if I get in...)?
Just called San Diego, they won't tell you over the phone... have to wait for the letter.
For the other question, I would choose USD eaily over Santa Clara. San Diego jumped a lot in rankings this last year and is now 61, compared to Santa Claras 85. Also, San Diego is an unusual market, that is quite different from Los Angeles, even though they are close proximity whise. USD is the best school in San Diego and places jobs well in the San Diego market.
I'm worried about a few things when it comes to USD. Job prospects outside of San Diego don't look too hot,but they look better for SCU. USD doesn't have an international law center of any kind (that I can find), whereas SCU has one of the most comprehensive of all law schools nationwide. Also, SCU's IP program is ranked top 10. So it looks like all that USD has going for it is a 61 in the rankings, great weather, and a beach...
A few things worry me about SCU.

According to this only 44% of graduates reported their salary. That is usually bad news.
Also, the latest information available for employment statistics is 2007. Where is 2008 numbers?
Also, Being in the bay area, I believe job competitition is a lot worse than in San Diego. Berkely/Hastings/Stanford/Davis? The San Fran market is saturated with graduates from these top schools. San Diego's best law school is USD, and many tier 1 schools will be lookin for employment in Los Angeles / San Fran in my opinion.
I personally think the person who wrote the review for USD on TLS is a bit biased against USD as their employment looks pretty damn good for a TT.
