Looks like a lot of people are updating with their final decisions on LSN. Good luck everyone.

Did paying Richmond's seat deposit mean that you have commited to going to school there, or if I get in off the wait list somewhere can I still pull out?

You might want to call and check with them. Most of the time, the deposit holds the spot in the class for you, and you can withdraw if you decide to go somewhere else or get in off a waitlist. From my experience, it is almost a general rule that you should be willing to lose at least one seat deposit. Talk about a waste of money.

If you paid the deposit to hold the seat and got in somewhere else, just call Richmond and tell them you want to withdrawal. You won't get your money back, but like the post above said, you've got to expect to lose a seat deposit.

I'm really hoping this PWL moves within the week.

Its binding if you were offered the JMS, you have to withdraw from everywhere immediately. Otherwise no, its just non-refundable

I was accepted in February, originally had no scholarship information. A couple of weeks later I got a text from Dean Rahman telling me that I would be getting a call from Justice Carrico of the Virginia Supreme Court. Next day I was informed that I had been selected for the John Marshall.

I gave it a lot of thought. Originally Richmond was a secondary option behind my first choice of William and Mary, although admittedly an appealing one. Dean Rahman happened to be in my area about a week after finding out about the scholarship and I had lunch with her. The school sounded very appealing and from everything I've seen it's a beautiful campus with a very friendly and supportive environment. Ultimately I had to pass it up in favor of W&M. I regret losing the unique opportunity, but I had to go with the school I'd been aiming for. I hope whoever got the offer instead has a blast!

I haven't heard of any movement, which is odd. I thought they would start the 15th or 16th - not sure what they're waiting on.

A friend of mine told me her friend got in off the wait list - I'm assuming they were on the PWL. That's all I know of. I'm not positive of the numbers but she said they were both below median.

I'm envious of the PWL group. If you aren't even hearing back yet, what does that mean for us on the regular wait list? :?

I would be willing to bet, that they let people off the WL one by one, and wait to see what each person says before moving to the next...

Can someone please tell me I'm wrong? Because I don't want to believe that

i called the office today to ask if there has been any movement on the PWL and she said that yes there has been some, but they are currently in a "holding pattern" right now. i'm not really sure what that means, but she said PWLers could expect to hear anything from now or until orientation...whenever a spot becomes open. i thought there would a storm of acceptances after the deposits were due last week? also, it looks like a ton of admitted people withdrew according to LSN so i'm a bit confused and frustrated right now...any thoughts anyone?

my guess is that the storm of movement / acceptances is going to happen in july.

i'm guessing that my own situation is a microchosm of the 'holding pattern', in that i submitted a seat deposit but am still waiting on some other schools who would be a better choice. i likely won't hear from them until june and will have to make a decision before the final seat confirmation in july.

if the guess is correct, there are a few people who are reserving their spot and thus propogating the 'holding pattern'.

Sounds right, but that doesn't work too well for me seeing as I put a deposit down at a law school with a summer start... oh well...

Remember too that their class is only 155 people. So they really aren't working with too many people at any given time. Send out offers to the initial 155, a handful here and there drop out, some get pulled of PWL. Its the curse of a small class size.

I bet in their first round of admissions, they admitted more than 155, expecting some people to say no.

i wonder about this. TLS says that richmond throws out about 4x more applications than the size of the incoming class. if 150 students are in the class, are these 600 applications thrown out all at once or are they the sum of PWL/WL pulls as well?

A classmate of mine was admitted off the non-priority waitlist with only days to go to orientation last year if this helps anyone.
