Checking out of TLS for a few days. I can't deal with this paranoia days after sending both my seat deposits. I refuse to allow my self to doubt my choice at a time where we should all be enjoying the calm after this stressful process.

yeah, if you look at the judges/lawyers score we are easily a t20 (tied with ucla, wustl, GWU, ahead of USC etc..) but when you look at peer assesment we are grouped with OSU, IUB, W&M etc.. Aka, average t35.. What's the deal? If you rightfully assume that one of a law schools top priorities is to prepare their students, by providing a great education, to get great jobs. Then you also correctly assume that every employer wants to get the best students, from the best schools, who had the best education. Why would there be such a gap between what people practicing law think and what people in legal academia think? Shouldn't their assesment standards be the same since their idea of what a school should do is theoretically the same?

Chuch. Even with this lame drop, talking with my gf, my family and everyone else. I keep coming back to the same thing...you want to go to W & L... its a great school... just go and be happy.

I agree; take a deep breath and realize it is not a big deal.

Mention W&L to any practicing attorney and they will "good school, good choice"; mention anything about a practical curriculum to a practicing attorney and they will say it is a needed change in legal education. No need to worry, last year it was a six (or close to six) way tie for 30th and now its just a big tie for 34th. It means nothing in the big picture.

Just my point of view, I have sent my seat deposit and I'm excited.

As a practicing attorney, I agree wholeheartedly.

Not to be "that guy" but the drop is definitely a boon to us waitlisters- will definitely lower yield of the already accepted students. Waitlisters rejoice!

I was reading Above the Law yesterday (oh yes, I was) and I saw that there was an article on the Harvard Law/New York Law School Future of Education Conference (HLS/NYLS FEC?.) Link here: --LinkRemoved--. Apparently it consisted of Big Law attorneys talking about how useless the students coming out of law school were because they had no idea how to apply their knowledge. Additionally, they complained that law schools are not listening to the needs of practicing attorneys and firms. It's interesting how often we hear this and that W&L has amended their curriculum for these very reasons but they get no love. I want love!

I read somewhere on here that often it is not that a school has declined, but that other schools have done things to up their rankings. Possible. Either way I'm still excited to go and perhaps our class will raise the rank next year?

Foamhenge anyone?

I'm still waiting until the last minute to send my seat deposit in...I just can't decide if the school is going to continue to drop like this...makes me nervous

I sent my deposit in and also took the higher priced of my choices. However, I'm happy. W&L offers a great education, good student numbers, and an excellent opportunity for actual preparation. I feel satisfied with my choice and excited about the fall. I think the rankings become a game at some point. Of course a T14 is great, but the 20-30/40 schools all offer quality within their respective markets.

I find W&L an excellent school and feel remarkably calm today. I'm going to utilize their resources and enjoy a unique education.

If W&M removes me from their WL, then I'll return to decision mode with the accompanying stress. For now though I"ll enjoy my decision and the opportunity W&L provides. Best of luck to all still deciding.

I know. Money is the only thing keeping me from committing, as I have another offer thats much higher. I've held off until now and know everyone hears no. I just feel like its worth asking and Id regret it if I didnt. Plus I applied after the schol deadline so maybe that combined with new money opening up could be worth considering.

Thanks by the way. maybe the rankings leak caused a flux of withdraws?
I think W&L, regardless of price, is a great school where you're guaranteed to get a quality education. At ASW the students and faculty constantly reminded us how respected W&L is, and my cousin who was a W&M law gradute currently working in DC said W&M and W&L are seen as equal, in his opinion. Lexington's non-existent cost of living makes it a great place to live, and I really love the small class size.

Just my two cents. I'll get off my W&L train. :]

Brett Twitty has got to be crying over all the people pulling out today after the rankings leaked. It's so dumb, I'm going to Emory- I was WL at W&L, and they both impressed me with their academic quality. I'm sorry your ranking dropped guys, you didn't deserve that.

Also, I'm sorry, Brett seems like an awesome person, but he looks like Cutler from Eastbound & Down. Maybe no one else saw that or I am just really immature or something but..just throwing that out there.

Just withdrew with large offer... not influenced by rankings in the slightest. I wish W+L the best.

Twitty is the man, way more awesome than Cutler but I see the similarities. Kudos for EB&D reference.
