I am a bigger splitter than the examples you mentioned, and I was offered 54k total. And I was accepted to 2 T14s and WLed at another, so I don't think it's accurate to assume people with those stats are out of the T14 competition. Why do people think Vanderbilt is doing this? It doesn't seem logical, if an applicant isn't going to get accepted anywhere better than Vandy anyway, why throw so much money at them? I thought the intent of Vandy's merit offers was to poach potential t10 and t6 candidates.
No disrespect intended to those with such numbers who got nice scholarship offers. I'm truly curious to hear other opinions as to what Vandy's strategy might be here.
