no stated GPA requirement. just "good standing."
Just checked my mailbox after reading your post, received the same 72K. 168/3.75, no interview, no Why Vandy. I did apply for law scholars merit awards. I was completely floored.
95% sure I'll be seeing some of yall next year. I don't think anyone can beat this offer.

+1. And who would they consider peers? T20 only? Only those higher than them?

Has Vandy published the 2010-2011 tuition/fees? Can only find 2009-2010 on website...

81K Chancellor's. Unless Duke or UVA comes back over the top of that or gives me 75K, my cycle's over.

If I got a larger scholarship from UT than I did from Vandy, should I let them know about it? Would they consider matching or beating it?

Complete on 1/4 and haven't heard a word since. I'm really hoping to get some good news soon otherwise I'm going to convince myself that UT is definitely the place for me. Anyone else experiencing a long wait?

60k total
3.58, 169, no why Vandy essay, no interview. Vandy has been and is most certainly now one of the top 3 schools I'm considering!!!
Browsing through LSN, there seem to be more than a couple 3.5x/169 and 3.6x/168's getting offered 60-72k (and congrats to you btw). With those numbers (assuming non URM), an applicant is unlikely to break the t14, other than maybe Cornell (for example,
http://lawschoolnumbers.com/SNIOP). If an applicant is unlikely to have any better options besides Vanderbilt, why would they offer so much money?
Why do people think Vanderbilt is doing this? It doesn't seem logical, if an applicant isn't going to get accepted anywhere better than Vandy anyway, why throw so much money at them? I thought the intent of Vandy's merit offers was to poach potential t10 and t6 candidates.
No disrespect intended to those with such numbers who got nice scholarship offers. I'm truly curious to hear other opinions as to what Vandy's strategy might be here.
Because there wasn't a chance in hell I'd pay 42k for tuition alone. I would have no qualms with going to a "lower-ranked" school that costs a fraction of the amount. I would like not to have debt govern my future (as I am particularly interested in lesser paying gov't and public interest jobs)
I am a bigger splitter than the examples you mentioned, and I was offered 54k total. And I was accepted to 2 T14s and WLed at another, so I don't think it's accurate to assume people with those stats are out of the T14 competition. I was also rejected/WLed at some lower ranked schools, so it seems to be difficult to predict.

$81k Chancellor's. Hopefully Michigan pulls through with some merit aid because Vandy looks very enticing all of a sudden.

72k. I like the part where they say "You have a promising future"
No interview/Vandy essays, so that may be why I am not higher

Thanks! Yeah, I'm not sure what happened at WUSTL. People with my numbers last year and this year got $$$. Oh well, even with considerable money at WUSTL, I would still take Vandy with $60k over them. Now the hard choice of Vandy with $60k or Michigan at full sticker.

72k as well!
172/3.8
No "why vandy," no interview, I didn't apply for merit aid.
Sent them a withdrawal email a few days ago. I hope this money goes to someone who wants/needs it!
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
