Vanderbilt 2013

Post by hypermeganet » Fri Nov 06, 2009 12:16 pm

No one started this thread yet?

Interview, 11/2. Complete 11/3. Probably WL bound but it's my top choice.

Anyone planning a trip to campus?

Re Visiting: Not unless they let me in! I've heard it's absolutely beautiful and I don't want to get my hopes up just to have my dreams shattered

I'm in on this too!! I haven't sent any applications in yet, but Vandy is in my first "Priority" group going out on 11/16! Did either of you write "Why Vandy" essays?

I interviewed a few days after the Sept LSAT with an alumnus and it went pretty well. Application sent 10/23 and complete 10/30. My LSAT is way above their 75% with GPA way below 25%. Hope Vandy has a few spots for splitters.

The operative note here ... let's hope they're showing the Splitter Love early this cycle!

You just speak to a Vanderbilt alum about the school, your interests, etc.

It was awesome for me cuz my interviewer went to the same undergrad as me (in Philly) and lived like 10 minutes from me. haha.

I've also spoken to some professors that teach the area of law I want to study the most and they seem awesome

Adding myself onto this thread. Been complete since september, did my interview a long while back.

Does Vandy start their first wave of acceptances in mid November like most schools, or are they later?

I just want ONE acceptance already!

What did the interviews cover? Did they just try to gauge your interest in the school, and ask if you had any questions, or was it more of a job interview-style?

Def closer to the former rather than the latter.

Mine was informal but super informative.

Same, we met at Starbucks and started off talking about school and Nashville, etc, etc. But ended up talking about music and our dogs, very relaxed. It could go both ways though, it just depends on your interviewer, I've heard of some people meeting their interviewers at their offices - this I would assume might turn out to be less casual.

Yeah my interview was at a BigLaw firm in downtown Boston. Far from casual. Went very well though. It was nice speaking with someone about the school who actually went there!

Was there a Why Vandy option in the app?

Nope and I held off anticipating the WL.

Nope, but there isn't one on UVA's application either. I asked at an LSAC Forum and was told "If Vanderbilt is a top choice school for you, it can only help for you to let us know."

I'm guessing we all had the same person in Boston...TD ring a bell? (Initials)

I did the alumnus interview about a week ago. I hope it doesn't look bad that I did an alumnus interview, even though I only live an hour from campus.

My interviewer took me out to lunch and it was very casual. It was very nice. When he told me that he got into Harvard but decided to go to Vandy on a full scholarship, I suddenly felt smaller... :D

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
