Is anyone else a little concerned about the admitted homogeneity of the student body? I've already dealt with that for the last four years, and it gets old. It probably helps that it's situated in a rather large city, but still.

Homogeneity in what regard?

Although I suppose that might go hand-in-hand with the small class size.

I think it shows that Vandy looks beyond demographics to the actual individuals who apply, rather than my beloved alma mater (Penn)'s practice of diversity for the sake of diversity

I hope it's a mixed batch for you. . .I got mine over the weekend in CA and I was a WL. Debating whether to visit and stay on the WL or not. I've heard only good things about Vanderbilt so I am tempted to ride it out a bit.

+1. You can have the same people that are all different colors or you can have different people that may or may not be the same color. I think that Vandy has a rather healthy mix of individuals that all contribute to the class, regardless of race.

Yup. I'm auto-reject numbers.

I could try to daydream for a WL, given a very strong interview (according to interviewer) and 7 years WE. But, alack, my numbers are so bad for Vandy that I doubt it.

Given that I'm a five-hour, straight-shot I-40 drive from campus, I'm sure I'll find out by tomorrow. Vandy is the last school I have to hear from, so I'm really really ready for it.

My numbers are definitely less than stellar as well but I have decent WE. Maybe we will get lucky and this will be the WE WL. I'm 3 hours north on I-65 so I should hear soon as well.

Decision mailed 3/24 after 2 months "complete"

Here's to hoping. I'm going to BC Law's ASD this weekend, but now I'll be thinking about Vanderbilt the whole time, great. Best of luck.

Do you mind if I ask what your "auto reject" numbers are?

You live in Hot Springs or something? I'm the three-hour on I-40 from Memphis. :)

Sorry if this has been asked before, but how easy/hard is it to get around without a car while attending Vanderbilt?

The consensus seems to be that you need one. Not everyday.. but it's good to have one for cold days/shopping/etc. I was really hoping I could do without but I have been advised against it many times.

Wouldn't do Nashville w/o a car. Having said that, Tenneseeans (sp?) are not the best drivers on Earth. In fact, they're pretty lousy.

I did without a car when I worked/lived downtown, but it was difficult even without any big need to get around town (except the grocery store). If you are in the Vanderbilt area, a car would be VITAL.

+1 on DR 3/24. not auto-reject numbers, but certainly reject numbers. I did write a pretty good (I think) why Vandy essay and have solid softs, but i'm definitely not getting my hopes up

I definitely disagree. I went to Vandy Undergrad so I know Nashville pretty well. I did have a car the last two years. but it isn't hard to find housing right around campus. Such as 20 and Grand or Wesley Place.
of course it is ideal to have a car but you will be able to survive for sure without one. plus the public bus goes to the mall. And with most other people having cars when you need to go food shopping you could easily get a ride.

Sadly it seems as if 3/24 is going to be a rejection. I hope I am wrong.
