My Guess: Borderline Acceptance/Waitlist

There aren't that many rejections at all. They just aren't making decisions and hoarding applications to see what happens at deposit deadline. They're just bracing for the worst case scenario of not filling their class since this is a record year with applicants, the economy, state budget/uc financial crisis, etc. Davis probably already met their acceptance quota and is probably just waiting to see if people matriculate before dinging everyone. It has been like that with most of the law schools this year.

Oh Davis, you continue to impress me. I have been "Eval in progress" since before the new year, application complete since before Halloween...heck, I'm not even mad, that's amazing...

For many, I don't think the waitlist is any better or worse than being stuck in evaluation at this point. With that said, the waitlist holds some pretty unqualified applicants (sub 3.0, sub 160's) and some very qualified applicants (3.5+, 164+)... at this point it's just a crapshoot really between the upper end waitlist members and the upper end students stuck in eval purgatory. Hopefully with the increased tuition, less scholarship money, and higher ranked schools students could attend with the same scores, there will be a lot of withdrawing come April.

the waitlist isn't really holding unqualified applicants. they are splitters or reverse splitters that can boost the 75% of either the GPA or LSAT. for the rest of the people that have have low GPA and LSAT, they all seem to be URM so it doesn't really count.

guessing many people in eval still isn't really above the 75% in either categories? (with exception of auto-admits still waiting)

Agreed. As much as I hate to say it, the borlerline applicants (like me) will probably not hear anything until the end of April when the school has a better picture of the incoming class.

That figure could be irrelevant though based on the actual application. This could be a registered sex offender who attended Community College and some horrendous UG, we just don't know. With those numbers there must be something wrong. I see some people who are sub median in both LSAT and GPA that were waitlisted (non-URM).

well using that logic, he can be the son of a senator, or cured a disease of some kind. or just made a mistake in not checking URM. most are URM's and the rest are splitters of some kind.

slightly...i got dinged at hastings though...which really scares me because nobody with my numbers(or close to) was dinged at hastings(or davis for that matter) in the past few years(according to LSN)...i'm guessing its my age or one of my LORs...

I'd say that's a pretty callous assessment. It would appear to me that UCD is simply being selective and actually looking at each applicant's portfolio, 4 minutes per application or not.

This whole argument is pointless. Just think of Davis as the black box of law school admissions and accept the fact that you will never know what/when/why/how your application will emerge. Either that, or assume that a waitlist/reject = divine retribution for previous sins.

Tru dat. Somehow the conversation switched from a 100+ post discussion on why Davis is taking so long to send admits/rejects to how they determine decisions. Let's just leave both as a mystery, shall we?

The website says final financial aid notices should be up on their myadmissions site today. Mine is still blank. Anyone have any luck?

I emailed the financial aid office last week, and they said our full package for financial aid will be on the web April 7.

I'm about to. I probably won't end up at Davis because I got a decent scholly to a better school, but I got so few actual acceptances that I really just wanted to see if they liked me, my ego needs it! And if by some random act of shenanigans I got some money out of them I'd seriously consider matriculation.
