I'm going to be patient until the last day of April. As soon as it hits May 1st, then I think we have a right to officially complain. I feel like many of us will still not hear by then because lots of people are still awaiting eval.

I get really angry until like 6:15, then I start looking forward to the next day at 6 PM I've heard from EVERY other school, why must my top choice torture me like this?

Yeah I'm retaking in October, but if my score improves drastically I will not be applying to Davis. It was my number 3 choice after Berkeley and Hastings. I guess my list would change then to Berkeley, Stanford, Hastings, Davis because I <3 NorCal so much.

why did you apply to davis if you would rather not go to law school even if davis accepted you?

Basically for three reasons:
1: I wasn't as informed as I am now about career prospects after graduation. I thought that 15% placed into biglaw, and now I think that it will be more like 5% for our class.
2: I thought that if I did not get into Hastings, I would attend Davis and shoot to transfer to a better school after 1L, such as USC or UCLA. Later I learned that transferring schools has it's own consequences, etc.
3: I had a 166 at the time and Davis was on the upper end of my options, obviously that changed with the new score...

So basically, my situation has just changed. Anyway, my train of thought now is more along the lines of - well, Davis doesn't open any doors to biglaw anyway, which means I would be getting one of those sub-80k jobs upon graduation... Why not attend a lower ranked school in a town I prefer by a long shot, and probably with a scholarship. The lower ranked school will get me a job of the same paygrade without a problem

Probably all true. But why shit on Davis when you are planning on going to an even "piece of crap"[-pier] school. You just sound bitter.

Well, I'm not planning on it. I'm hoping for NW, Cornell, Gulc, USC, or Vandy... but if it came down to it, i think i might choose loyola or USD over davis.

Anyway, I wasn't really serious about calling Davis a shitty school, but you must admit it is a little bit funny that they waitisted me... I called the school crap because they apparently don't know what they are doing in admissions - Apps take forever to evaluate, the location is unappealing, etc. Still, only half serious... I would go to Davis if I lived in the area.

Seriously, what's been taking them so long? There's a clear sense of arrogance in conveniently taking their time with decisions when other schools' initial deposit deadlines are right around the corner. It's one thing if Davis were a top 20 school with at least SOME cred to justify willful ignorance to student needs. But clearly that's not the case.

I'd like to hear something in the next week or so. It would be nice to be able to attend ASD to get a feel for the law school. I've been to Davis a lot, and I'm actually a fan of a quiet town in cow country. Plus, the city's bike culture is one of the best around.

I have a good feeling about this week, though. That'll be three weeks under eval. Of course, I had a good feeling about last week too, so maybe my spidey sense is broken.

One drawback to Davis, which was also brought up last year, was the time it takes admissions to make decisions. I truly believe that Davis is losing some really good students because deposits are due before they even hear a peep from Davis. I too would be laying a deposit down at Hastings soon if it weren't for my acceptance a few weeks ago. I definitely want to bring this up at ASD / over my career at Davis because like I said earlier, they are missing out on some talent.

This allows them to protect their yield. Anyone that TRULY wants to attend Davis will stick it out, no matter what. If you're not that serious and you just want another acceptance, you might get fed up and withdraw early, which obviously benefits Davis' yield.

It's not like they freely offer generous scholarship money to sway applicants on the fence.

I don't fully understand how YP works, but it makes sense. I've personally sent out my e-mails to all the other schools I know I'm not attending.

I wouldn't withdraw just yet. I called a few weeks ago, and they're now sending out estimated grant info via email and will get to scholarships in April. They're waiting on the regents to meet first so they know exactly how much money they have to work with.

hm thank you, too! lol that complicates things. i know i wont be getting shit unless its a merit scholarship and there's only a few weeks left to decide unless i wanna waste mad $$ on multiple seat deposits

I wouldn't hold my breath for too much extra $ though given the UCs fiscal situation.

Exactly. Unless you've got T-14 numbers, don't expect any $ your way. With so many qualified applicants there's no reason for them to spend any more money (tuition opportunity cost) than they need to. They need to tighten up on those scholarships if they have any hopes of keeping tuition rates affordable. So unless you're above 75 % of both LSAT and GPA, don't expect much (if anything).

Given how many waitlist results have been issued over that time (a majority of which, with lower scores), I've been thinking that this isn't such a bad sign. If they were really that unsure they would have just slapped us on the waitlist, if they didn't think we were waitlist worthy, they would've simply sent a rejection. As frustrating as it is, I'm glad they are looking beyond simple numbers and randomly picking the bottom percentile admits. Here's to our 2 month stay on the "Evaluation In Progress" train...

Makes sense since I have borderline numbers but it's frustrating because I'm going to need to throw a deposit down elsewhere. And then if I get into Davis, I'll need to throw a deposit there and decide if I want to ride out the BC Law waitlist.

Also waiting on UC Hastings over the same time frame. These UCal schools are brutal. They're the only two schools (out of 13) that haven't given me a decision of some sort...
