J Burrito wrote:Question: As I said, UC Davis requested my fall grades today. The problem is that I have an incomplete on my transcript from fall quarter.

It's sort of a complicated situation because the incomplete is for my senior project. My professor granted me an extension to finish the project and gave me an "I" instead of a grade. Normally, senior projects are done over 2 quarters so it's not an unusual occurrence. I considered just turning in what I have written so far for a grade but it would still take weeks to process, so that's out of the question.

Do you think this incomplete will hurt me? I plan to write an addendum explaining all of it in detail and maybe having my prof write something up. Once the 'I' changes to a grade I'll quickly send them another updated transcript if I still haven't heard anything.

What do you guys think? I really want to go to Davis and I take this as a good sign that they're strongly considering me.

Thanks!
I can't see it as hurting you, as long as the other grades are solid. One more grade out of many is unlikely to seriously deviate from your average at this point. So, they ought to be able to judge your transcript as is.

It's probably more that they want the file to be 'complete', so to speak.

Did you receive the email on Saturday? I'm wondering if they work on the weekends, which means I ought to be checking the status checker on weekends now. :D
Awesome, that makes me feel a little better. The other grades are solid, they even gave my GPA a tiny boost.

I did receive the email on a Saturday! It was from the Associate Director of Admissions and Outreach as well. Maybe they're trying to get caught up with seat deposit deadlines approaching. We can only hope...
I agree with the above advice, but I would also suggest that you make sure to have your teacher write a brief explanation or have her sign what you write. I had supporting documents for my addendum on another matter and i think it might have helped me out when my file was reviewed. best of luck!

Thank you everyone! I left out of town a few minutes after I saw the good news, so I haven't had time to post back. I'm rooting for everyone!

Facebook group is up, PM me if you are planning on going to Davis so I can add you, or just search for the group on Facebook...Name is UC Davis School of Law (King Hall) - Class of 2013. Its open to everyone right now so that we can build it up a bit. It will be more regulated once people finalize their decision to attend.

Awesome, I just put up a thread in the group where people can introduce themselves. You should post something. It is going to take a bit to get this group started, so any help would be welcomed.

I would, but as the self-designated Luddite of the Class of 2013, I'm busy trying to start a pen-pal group (in the true Davis spirit, y'all all should get my letters in about 5-6 months). Anybody wanna swap tintypes?

I'm hoping they forget about their Thur/Fri decision days and start doing them everyday.

I applied in January and have not heard back from any of the UCs. I am starting to get really worried.

Has there been any word on estimated in-state tuition costs for Davis?

I have a buddy who's a 1L at Hastings and they were told of the estimated cost for their 3 years, but I'm not too sure whether they'd be close to Davis'.

I'm guessing similar tuition, but drastically lower living expenses, unless they base that upon grad housing (the Tower), though probably still a lot lower.

On-campus COL at Hastings will almost surely be higher than Davis.

I think somewhere on TLS the expected increases have been posted, and I believe Davis was a couple thousand less than Hastings - but, at that amount, what is a $2-3k difference each year anyway?

Currently, total fees at Davis will be about $40K, $45k and $50k between 2010-2013 for CA residents. The good news is that Davis proposes to use the fee increases to improve overall program quality, including student financial aid. All the UCs will cost pretty much the same, any $2-3k fee differences are peanuts at these rates.

I envy you and your non-status-checking ways. :)

Me on the other hand, I'm still checking it daily. Not right at 6 o'clock though, so I've gotten a little better.

Haha thanks! I just never checked Davis because I never sent them this addendum they asked for and I figured they wouldnt make a decision till I sent it. Guess I way wrong. But I compulsively check USC's ooh, every hour or so?

For those deciding between Davis and Hastings, Im not visiting Hastings until April 16, after Davis seat deposit.... Did anyone else make this mistake?

I just checked my status again and no change. If they are only looking at apps on Thurs/Fri does this mean I won't hear anything until next week? The UCs are driving me crazy! I have deposits due at other schools in 2 weeks and no word. Arghhh.
