+1 to this question. I emailed the pres of my university bc he used to be a dean there. He said to ask the students, that they're the best judges =)

Just explore the facilities... check out the atrium, reading room, court rooms, etc. All beautiful. The free happy hours in the atrium on friday's are a good time to meet current students. Meet the dean if you can, he is the man. Check out the tennis courts, the drill field, the buildings, etc.

I enjoyed checking out the Delmar Loop and downtown St. Louis

Eat at pie (the numerical symbol) in the Delmar Loop- its delicious!

The drive around campus is also very scenic, they give you a free card to use for lunch, so you can walk around campus and then get food

How hard is it to get there from the airport? I can't come next Friday bc they won't reimburse me after the 1st. Any other good times to meet current students? They're not on vacation next week or anything, are they?

edit: my undergrad had happy hours. free snacks and drinks but paid alcoholic beverages. must have been something Seligman brought from wustl with him =) I forget what they're called.

edit: oh yeah. Club <School>. Brilliant. is Wustl's called ClubWash?

Not to belabor the point, but has anyone heard from the Webster Society Scholarship yet. I can't make a move on deposits until I hear back, so anything anyone has to say would be appreciated.

I posted this in another thread, but I figured I'd pass it on to everyone else going this weekend. I've been to STL probably around 2 dozen times and I love the city. Here are my recommendations:

Definitely check out the St. Louis Zoo and the surrounding Forest Park area. It isn't far from WUSTL and it is a really nice area. There are also some other museums (art, science, etc.) in this area and they are all free admission. As far as dining options go, I would recommend at least one meal at The Hill. The Hill is the old Italian neighborhood in St. Louis and it is known for its great Italian food and bakeries. There are plenty of great places to eat, but I'm a big fan of Zia's. The Hill is right by Forest Park, so you could easily make a day out of this.

Unfortunately, the Cardinals aren't going to be in town since the season hasn't started yet, otherwise I'd definitely recommend seeing a Cardinals game at the new Busch Stadium. Cardinals fans are without a doubt the best baseball fans in the world! The Cardinals are a big draw for me to going to WUSTL. :D

The Gateway Arch is a cool landmark to check out. As far as going out, I'm not too familiar with the bars and all of that, but there is a casino boat you could try that is supposed to have cheap drinks and a good casino scene.

Last but certainly not least, the Budweiser brewery tour is awesome! It used to be free, but I'm not sure if it is anymore. It might be like $5 or so, but it is well worth a trip. You get lots of beer samples at the end and the brewery itself is really impressive.

Hope you have a good time in STL! I'll be there this weekend for the ASD too. I've been trying to get some people together for Thursday/Friday, so if you're interested, check out this thread: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=111453

Have any of the acceptances from 2/23 heard back about the amount of their Scholar in Law award?

I posted this in the ASD thread, but here it is again: If anyone needs a ride from the airport or to the law school on Friday, feel free to PM me. I'll be in St. Louis on Thursday afternoon, most likely.

1) I'm not driving
2) I want the advice of someone who's done it before
3) WashU's site doesn't say how much the taxi will cost if I go that route
4) I want to know if public transportation is a better option.

a] Did you look at the first link the google search provided?
b] It provides instructions for metrolink, cab, and car
c] Call the cab company if you want to know about fares
d] I rented a car from Thursday-Saturday for $60 when I went last month

Honestly, I have no idea since I've never been to St. Louis before. If I do end up picking someone up from the airport, though, I'll be sure to let you know my route. BTW, why aren't you going to ASD? Time conflict?

I saw a few posts back about the "we're trying to hurry up and get your decision out" email...I got one too, and FWIW I think I'm a reject (163/3.74). I got my 2nd complete date on 1/26 and haven't heard anything since.

Accepted via email just now plus a consideration for Scholars in Law Award! This is a bit of a shock.
