One of my two numbers is alright. The other is lacking. I've been accepted to one T14, rejected from 2, waitlisted at 1, with 6 pending.finalaspects wrote:my god nice stats. you should have gotten accepted to a couple of T14s....pertristis wrote:I, too, got the magical hold email. Has this happened to anyone else?

No, it's from GULC. NU decision should be coming this week; I've WE, so I'm guessing I'll be in. I'm not thinking I'd take NU at sticker over GULC + $, though. With that said, I'd kill for NYU or CLS (but the GPA ...)finalaspects wrote:you'll get more. betting the one acceptance is northwestern? if not they'll accept you for sure.pertristis wrote:One of my two numbers is alright. I did get a letter from them today. They're waiting until students that have been accepted pay their deposits on Apr 1st. Since I applied pretty late, they've put me on a hold list...which I guess is in between the limbo of wait list and acceptance.

Re: For WUSTL Applicants
This is what I got. Is this a waitlist email or a "hold" email?
We appreciate your interest in attending Washington University School of Law. This year, we received applications from a record number of outstanding candidates and we are currently over-committed with our offers of admission. For that reason, a final decision regarding the status of your application has not yet been made, and the Admissions Committee has placed you on our wait list. However, the Committee was highly impressed with your credentials and is hoping to be able to extend you an offer of admission in the near future.
I understand that you need to start making plans for this fall. Unfortunately, at this time, it is difficult to determine exactly when and how many candidates will be admitted from our wait list. Admitted candidates have until April 1st to submit a deposit to hold their seats in the entering class. As soon as we know that we have seats available, we will immediately notify those additional applicants to whom we are able to offer admission.
If it?s any encouragement, we do anticipate taking candidates from the wait list this year. For your part, if you wish to remain on our wait list, please complete the "Wait List" form at http://law.wustl.edu/admissions/forms/waitlist.asp
We appreciate your patience and hope that you will continue to consider Washington University School of Law as your school of choice for your legal education.
Sincerely,
Mary Ann Clifford
Assistant Dean for Admissions

Hold list looks like this:
We appreciate your interest in attending Washington University School of Law. This year, due to a record number of outstanding candidates, we are currently over-committed with our offers of admission. For that reason, a final decision regarding the status of your application has not yet been made, and the Admissions Committee has placed your file on hold. The committee was highly impressed with your credentials and is hoping to be able to extend you an offer of admission in the very near future.
I understand that you need to start making plans for this fall. Unfortunately, at this time, it is difficult to determine exactly when and how many additional candidates we will be able to admit. Admitted candidates have until April 1st to submit a deposit to reserve their seats in the entering class. As soon as we know that we have seats available, we will immediately notify those additional applicants to whom we are able to offer admission.
I do anticipate admitting additional candidates. For your part, if you wish to remain under consideration for admission, please complete the online form (link redacted)
We appreciate your patience and hope that you will continue to consider Washington University School of Law as your school of choice for your legal education.
Sincerely,
Mary Ann Clifford

Re: For WUSTL Applicants
yea only real difference between the 2 emails, are that one said hold and the other says waitlist.
that and should hear in the "near future" vs. "very near future" for holds.

I was put on hold earlier today. 168/2.95.
Did anyone with an LSAT above median get a "waitlist" e-mail?

So how do holds usually work? Like, do they accept everyone off the hold list before they move to the waitlist folks?

Re: For WUSTL Applicants
i think being held in regular decision is a new thing. it makes sense to hold someone from early decision to regular decision so this is quite strange. guessing they'll pull from the hold first, when spots are open, then move on to the waitlist. but for all i know it could be the opposite.Unknownsou wrote:So how do holds usually work? Re: For WUSTL Applicants
Hold basically means they haven't made a decision yet. Most holds will probably end up on the waitlist.Unknownsou wrote:So how do holds usually work? Like, do they accept everyone off the hold list before they move to the waitlist folks?

Yeah, some of us will get in for sure. But, there are a lot of holds, so I bet the majority find their way to the WL. Moral of the story is that we are now all enemies.finalaspects wrote:bah! hopefully it means that we're on top of the waitlist if that happens?D. I think hold means, "We need to see whether more LSAT splitters or GPA splitters withdraw and which category we most need to boost or maintain our medians, and if you help the one we need, you'll probably be in within a week"

lol if you see it that way, we've been enemies since the beginning. not like we can screw each other over, the enemy is the admissions committee!D. If it?s any encouragement, we do anticipate taking candidates from the wait list this year.
Which is totally less encouraging.
